Lake Mburo National Park is located in the South western areas of Uganda and is one of the best parks to visit due to a short driving distance from the capital city of the country. The park sits on an area of 370 km squared thus becoming the smallest park in the country of Uganda. However, it becoming the smallest park, it does not mean it has less adventure.

Lake Mburo is a surprising place with panoramic landscapes and striking sunsets. The park is also full of diversity ranging from woodland, savannah vegetation, permanent and seasonal swamp thus becoming a home of various wildlife and bird species.

Lake Mburo national park is the home to over 69 mammals that are seen in the savannah grounds of the park. Some of these animals include the buffaloes, impala, elands, zebras, warthogs, bush buck, hyenas, water buck, leopards, oribi, jackal, topi and among others.

There are almost 315 bird species in Lake Mburo national park and they include the shoebill stork, African fish eagles, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Carruthers Coat cola, African finfoot, brown parrot, white winged warbler, tabora cist cola great snip, papyrus yellow warbler, white headed barbets and among other bird species.

In the years before gazatting the park as a national park, Bahima used to graze their cows in the parks premises. The best time you can visit the park is during the month of June – September and December- February. The park is close to the equator and it is such an amazing tourism destination for tourists because you will take photos from the equator stopover as your heading to the park. Lake Mburo is the only park in Uganda that offers horseback safaris and good for domestic tourist who want to do a one day tour.
