Weather in lake Mburo national park: The park is found in Mbarara city and is one of the smallest parks in Uganda. Lake Mburo National Park is found on Kampala-Mbarara Highway and this road connects all the western parks in Uganda. Lake Mburo covers 260 square Kilometers and is known as Nakivali wetland system. Lake Mburo was first established in 1933 and in 1963 it was gazetted as a game reserve and in 1983 it was gazette as a National Park.

Weather is defined as the condition of atmosphere on a particular period of time and place. Lake Mburo’s weather is a natural unique that cannot be found in any other place or national park in Uganda. Lake Mburo’s weather is influenced by various factors as mentioned below.

Mild climate is the order of the day in Lake Mburo and regular temperatures accompany mild climate and the cause of all this is because of the shorter distance from the Equator to the park.

Lake Mburo has got normal temperatures that range from 27 degrees Celsius. Temperatures of the night vary from the temperatures of the day. In the night zone, the temperatures are 14 degrees Celsius.

Lake Mburo has two famous wet seasons as far as weather is concerned. Lake Mburo is said to be receiving an annual average rainfall of 800mm and above or 31.5 inches. The park has got dry season too. The two seasons have their specific months and for example dry season is expected in Lake Mburo during the months of August, June-July, and December- February.

The main dry and wet season transition in Lake Mburo happens during the months of August. This transition increases the amount of rainfall that is expected to be received in Lake Mburo.In the months of September, October plus November, less rainfall is expected if compared to the rain received in the months of March, April and May.

For the sake of wet season in Lake Mburo, it happens during the months of March- May or September-November. The wettest months in the whole year are March, April and May and April is said to be the month that receives highest rainfall. During wet season, the day time average temperatures are approximately 26 degrees Celsius and for the morning, it has 15 degrees Celsius as the average temperature. The best period for a visitor to visit the park is in the months of March and October. Remember that Lake Mburo is found in the rain shadow between Mountain Rwenzori and Lake Victoria.
