Lake Mburo national park is the one of the smallest savannah parks for birding tours and it is situated in the western part of Uganda. Lake Mburo is also the closest park to Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. The park lies on 370 sq. kilometers.

Lake Mburo is composed of various stinking landscapes rolling hills, seasonal and permanent swamps, forests, lakes, Savannah vegetation and woodlands.

Lake Mburo National Park hosts over 350 bird species and of which some are residential and the other are migratory birds, some of these birds are; brown parrot, red papyrus gonalek, African fishing eagle,  black-billied bustard,  black papyrus gonalek, yellow papyrus gonalek found in the papyrus swamp areas, Abyssinian ground hornbill, saddle billed stork, white winged warbler, papyrus yellow warbler, brown chested wattled plover, emerald spotted wood,  African fin foot, Grey crowned crane, bare faced go away bird, white headed barbet, rufous-billied heron, cocui francolin, red-faced barbet and among many other species.

You can best enjoy watching birds during the morning and evening.  You can beat watch the above birds from valleys of miriti, Rubanga forest, warukiri.
