Sipi trading centre is found in Eastern parts of Uganda which covers approximately 60 kilometers from Mbale on the Kapchorwa-Suam road.  Sipi trading Centre was named after Sipi Falls which is about 20 minutes after you reach Sipi Trading Centre. From Sipi trading center to Sipi falls is about 20 minutes in each direction, it usually starts from behind the post office in Sipi trading center up to the main waterfall. You can continue the trail for another 20- 30 minutes to reach a cluster of caves on the cliff above the river. The largest cave covers about 125m into the rock face, and it has rich mineral salt deposits that have been worked at some years back, as well as traces of petrified wood. When walking back to the trading Centre from the caves along the main road, you’ll pass the top of the main waterfall.

Walks to the fall

Walks to the fall tend to be muddy but this local trail offers you many beautiful views of the area. While on your way to the bottom of all three levels of waterfalls, you have to get a local guide as It is possible to walk off on your own, this local guide will help you explain the flora and fauna as well as negotiate the passage through private property.

Forest walks

Forest walks is one of the best experiences that one who visited Sipi falls will never forget, as it allows you to explore more about the mountain Elgon, bird species, Sipi falls, Sipi trading Centre, though you need to pay the national park fees for this activity.

You can visit the local people who live in the trading center who are majorly the sebei and the Bagisu and enjoy their local food like the Malewa known as the bamboo shoots and also the circumcision days which are used to initiate the boys into adulthood.

Sipi trading Centre has several good accommodation facilities which feature comfort relaxation during your visit to the Sipi Falls, Mount Elgon National Park, or stopover on your journey to Kenya and include Lacam Lodge; Lacam Lodge is a luxurious lodge found near Sipi just 300m turn left at the Sign for Lacam Lodge around the police post. Lacan lodge has a good location and beautiful views of Sipi Falls at less price. It is also located on edge of the cliff and has amazing views of the valley. It is also the best option for hikers of Mount Elgon National Park since it is near the park.

Sipi River Lodge situated near the Sipi Falls trading Centre on the long bend when proceeding to Kapchorwa location in the foothills of Mount Elgon, famous for three spectacular waterfalls, is home to various bird species, the best Arabica coffee, and magical sunsets.

In Uganda, visitors who visit Mount Elgon can also visit other national parks such as Bwindi impenetrable national park for a wonderful experience that is gorilla trekking and get an opportunity to explore more about these primates. You can visit Murchison falls national park and take a boat cruise on the river Nile where you will see various water wildlife animals like hippos, crocodiles and many more or you can do a game drive and view a lot of wildlife animals such as buffaloes, giraffes,  Uganda kob, hippos plus countless bird species.
