Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC)

Uganda Wildlife Authority Education Centre is commonly known as the Entebbe Zoo to most local people and the place is a home to a number of reptiles kept in cages and some on free range system. Expected to film reptiles such as Nile crocodile, tortoise, terrapins and a diversity of African snake species such as Cobra, African Rock Python, Gabon Viper among others.

Entebbe Reptile Village

Entebbe Reptile Village is located at the outskirts of Entebbe town and is another interesting place to visit for reptile filming in Uganda. Yasin Kazibwe who is a well-known local snake guide in Uganda started Entebbe Reptile Village with a view of conserving reptiles for future generations due to his passion about nature tourism. This reptile village is a home to the Cat-eyed Snake, African Rock Python, Forest Cobra, Egg -eating Snake, Gabon Viper, Three-horned Chameleon etc.

Ngamba Island

Ngamba Island is well known for hosting a number of primates such as chimpanzees however; the island is also a home to a number of reptiles such as Monitor lizards, Agama lizards, Tortoise and different snake species. Ngamba is one of the unique islands found on Lake Victoria (A largest fresh water body in Uganda and Africa). All in all, the amazing eye-catching scenery of the island features a prodigious background during reptile filming and shooting.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is well known for being a home to a half of the world’s remained mountain gorillas. However; the park is also an iconic destination for reptile filming tours; hosting number of reptiles such as Three-horned Chameleon, Sparse-Scaled Forest Lizard, Johnston’s Chameleon, Great lakes Bush Viper, Pale-headed Forest Snake among others

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is the largest game park and conservation area in Uganda and hosts some of the largest Nile crocodiles and other reptiles. Filming normally take place at the bottom of the falls where most reptiles reside at the riverine vegetation to ambush and catch the prey like fish and other mammals. It’s always a great reptile filming session in Uganda seeing the Nile crocodiles hunting and dragging the catch into the waters of the Nile!

Important Information about Reptile Filming in Uganda

All foreign non-resident film crew are required to clear with Uganda immigration department on arrival at Entebbe international airport if they wish to come with their filming equipment. The process may take long to get endorsed by the government of Uganda however, you may send your kit list prior to arrival for your reptile filming tour with Africa Adventure Vacations; and we then get in touch with our clearing agent for evaluation. Once we establish the total cost of clearing your equipment with the authorities, we advise you to pay in advance and our agent will be waiting for you at the immigration for further assistance.

Foreign journalists and all film crew must be cleared and credited by Uganda Media Council to secure Media Cards. The media cards can also be secured by our team before your arrival in a period between 3-4 working days if you follow our guidance. In the same process, we send a form that gathers all necessary information required by Uganda Media Council to be filled and returned by email to our office representative. The filming crew must send two passport photos and a copy passport.

For those filming for more than a month; the fees for media cards automatically increase as per the policy of Uganda Media Council.
