This 5 days chimpanzee and wildlife safari in Uganda starts and ends in Kampala city. The safari takes you to Kibale forest national park one of the greatest rain forests in Africa harboring 13 primates. the park is a home of over 100 chimpanzees and other primates like the olive baboons, black and white monkeys, 60 mammals, and 325 bird species. You will also visit Queen Elizabeth national park situated 376 km away from Kampala city and famous for tree-climbing lions but also home to over 500 bird species, 95 mammals, and 10 primates.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale forest national park

On the first day after your safari, a driver guide from Africa adventure vacations will meet you at your hotel and brief you about the safari and later start on your journey to Kibale national park which takes you about 4 – 5 hours. On your way to Kibale forest national, you will have stunning views of the plantations, landscapes, and homesteads. On arrival at Kibale forest national park, you will be welcomed by different animals such as baboons and monkeys. You will proceed and visit some of the crater lakes after drive and check-in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and visit Bigodi wetland sanctuary

On the second day of your safari, wake up to a morning breakfast and met your driver for a transfer to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing, you will be grouped and a ranger guide will lead you to the forest to search for these gentle primates. while searching for chimpanzees you will come across other wildlife species such as grey checked mangabeys, red-tailed monkeys, l’hoest’s monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, small mammals, and birds. when you finally meet the chimpanzees, you will have a great time with them as you learn about their behaviors, watch the males guard their territories, mothers breastfeed, children play around, and much more. Later return to the lodge for lunch. in the afternoon you will have a guided nature walk to Bidogi wetland sanctuary where you will see several bird species, primates, and some communities around. Later get back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Leave Kibale for Queen Elizabeth national park

Have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet your driver for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. On your way to the park, you will have great views of Rwenzori ranges and local people doing daily activities near the road. Have an en-route lunch and proceed with your journey to the park bordered by lake Edward and Lake George that are connected by the Kazinga channel. As you enter the park you will see several animals such as lions, topis, antelopes, buffaloes, waterbucks, elephants, birds among others. You will check in your lodge and later have an evening game drive in the park where you will meet different park animals. Drive to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning game drive and Afternoon boat cruise

On this 4th day of your safari, you will have to wake up so early in the morning for breakfast to meet some of the nocturnal animals in the park before going back to their hiding places in the Kasenyi plains. During the game drive, you will see most of the park animals such as antelopes, lions, elephants, buffaloes and you will get a chance to see them closely. After the game drive, you will get back to the lodge relax and have to wait for lunch. after lunch, you will drive to the shores of the Kazinga channel for a boat cruise. During the boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, you will see some of the water animals like crocodiles and hippos, water birds, and some of the park animals like elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes bathing or drinking water. Drive back to the lodge, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay

Day 5: Visit lake Katwe and departure

After morning breakfast, check out the lodge and take a visit to lake Katwe which is a Salt Lake, and after start on your journey back to Kampala with a stopover in Masaka for lunch and another at the equator for photos and souvenirs from gift shops. Drive to Kampala for a drop-off at your hotel or Entebbe international airport to end your 5 days chimpanzee and wildlife safari in Uganda
