4 days Uganda gorilla trekking and wildlife safari starts and ends in Kampala city. The safari takes you to some of the most visited national parks in Uganda such as Bwindi impenetrable forest national park situated in southwestern Uganda covering a total area of 331 sq. km. the park is a home of 19 habituated gorilla families, 120 mammals, 350 bird species, 22o butterfly species, and 162 tree species. The safari also takes you to Queen Elizabeth national park located in western Uganda about 376 km from Kampala city. The park is famous for tree-climbing lions and the Kazinga channel that joins Lake Edward and Lake George.

Detailed itinerary 

Day 1: Departure for Bwindi impenetrable national park

Early in the morning, your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel and he will first brief you about your safari. Thereafter start on your journey to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park that is situated on the southwestern side of Uganda for mountain gorilla trekking. On your way, you will have a stopover at the equator to take photos and another at Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch. on arrival at Bwindi, you will proceed to your booked lodge check-in and have an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest

Today is the highlight of your 4 days Uganda gorilla trekking and wildlife safari! On this day you will need to wake up very early take breakfast and get your packed lunch ready. Your driver-guide will drive you to the park headquarters for a briefing concerning gorilla trekking by the ranger guide. Thereafter get a habituated gorilla family to trek and a guide to lead you into the forest o lookout for mountain gorillas which involves hiking up and down rugged paths and this requires you to be fit. In case of heavy luggage, you can hire porters for a small fee. When you meet the gorillas follow the rules and regulations taught during briefing most especially standing 7 meters away from them as you watch them do daily activities like the mothers breastfeed, young ones play, silverbacks guard the territory and others make nests. the time taken to find these primates depends on their movements and the speed you are trekking. After spending an hour with mountain gorillas, trek back to the starting point get your trekking certificate, and meet your driver for a transfer back to the lodge.

Day 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park through Ishasha sector

After your morning breakfast check out your hotel, meet your safari driver and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park passing through the Ishasha sector located in the southern sector of the park. While entering the Ishasha sector you will come across different animal species among which include bushbucks, buffaloes, monkeys, elephants, antelopes, Uganda kobs, different birds among others. Tree climbing lions are the most common animals in this sector. You will later drive to your lodge check-in at the lodge and have some lunch.

In the afternoon you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake Edward to Lake Albert. The boat cruise on the Kazinga channel takes you about 2 hours with an opportunity of seeing some of the water birds the Saddle billed stork, shoebill, African fish eagle, pied and malachite kingfisher, pink backed pelicans, and African skimmer, animals like the crocodiles, and hippos and other animals like elephants and buffaloes on the lake shores bathing or drinking water. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning game drive and departure to Kampala

On the last day of your safari take a morning breakfast and meet your driver for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains of the park where you will see animals like lions, elephants, topis, warthogs, buffaloes, giant forest hogs, leopards among others. If you are a good birder you will see several bird species. After a morning game drive, you will go back to the lodge check out and drive out of the park. You will have an en route at Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch. After lunch, proceed with your journey to Kampala with another stopover at the equator for photos. You will reach Kampala in the afternoon get dropped off at your hotel or Entebbe international airport to end your 4 days Uganda gorilla trekking and wildlife safari.
