Most cattle keepers in the Ankole region keep the incredible Ankole long horned cattle. Lake Mburo national park is known for its variety of herbivorous mammals such as Burchell’s Zebras, African Buffaloes, Impala, Warthogs, Giraffes and various Antelope species. The park has two of the big fives which are the Buffalo and the Leopard, the park has some predators such as spotted hyenas, civets, African rock pythons and many others. Lake Mburo national park is made up rocky outcrops, dry hillside, open and wooded savanna forests, bushes thickets, lakes and swamps which provides home to a surprising diversity of animals, birds and plants. Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kampala / Entebbe – Drive to Lake Mburo national park – Evening and night game drive

Early morning a safari guide from Africa Adventure Vacations will meet you at your hotel or residence in Kampala / Entebbe for picked up and then start your journey to Lake Mburo National park with a stopover at the equator an international landmark in Kayabwe to see the water experiment which is carried out on either sides of the equator and directly on the equator itself. This experiment demonstrates the carioles effect which describes how the movement changes direction when in motion to the left or right when moving on a rotating body. On the northern hemisphere, it rotates clockwise vice versa on the southern hemisphere then no rotation and the center, take some memorial photos, have a cup of coffee and then proceed to Igongo cultural museum to relax, have lunch and then visit the museum which has a vast collection of artifacts that exhibits pastoral culture, history, political changes as well as present-day modernization culture and life style in the region. After the Igongo cultural museum, drive to your booked lodge to check in and spend rest of your afternoon time relaxing while preparing for your evening and night game drive where you will able to see several wildlife species of the park such as African buffaloes, Zebras, Giraffes, Impalas, Warthogs, Elands, Topis and many others. A night game drive in Lake Mburo National park will boost your chances to encounter nocturnal wildlife species of the park such as spotted hyenas, Leopards, Porcupines, African rock pythons, Bush babies, bush pigs among others. Day 2: Lake Mburo national park – Morning horseback riding – Afternoon boat cruise – Evening game drive

Day 3: Lake Mburo national park – Drive to a farm – Return to Kampala / Entebbe

Rise up early in the morning to have breakfast and later drive to a local farm of the Ankole long-horned cows which are known as the indigenous cows to the Banyankore tribe found in the western Uganda. The Banyankore cultures and traditions are highly centered on their native Ankole long horned cow. The visit to a local farm will let you know much about the interesting culture of the Banyankore people and their graceful native long horned cows. You will join the local herdsmen during several farm activities milking the cows, massaging and cleaning the cows, and finally letting them out to pasture. Also, visit the traditional house to experience and take part in processes of making local yogurt and ghee which are made out of milk. Later, return to the accommodation to have late breakfast when all your bags are ready packed in the vehicle, check out and start your drive back to your residence in Kampala or Entebbe. On your way, you will have a stopover at Kayabwe equator landmark to have lunch and then drive straight back to your hotel or residence.
