Day 2: Mgahinga gorilla national park – Mountain gorilla trekking – Return to Kigali City / International Airport

Rise up very early in the morning to be served breakfast, have your packed lunch and meet your safari guide to drive to the park information center to meet other guests for the briefing about the ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’ to follow during mountain gorillas tracking in the forest. Be allocated a mountain gorilla family to track, get a ranger guide from UWA and the start your walk into the montane forest to search for the most endangered and rare primates in the world “the mountain gorillas”. The time taken while looking for the mountain gorillas is not known Gorilla but can take between 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the mountain gorilla family you are tracking. Mountain gorilla tracking involves walking through the steeps and densely forested hills before finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation so, a certain level of physical fitness and mental determination are required or an advance arrangement for some people (porters) to carry you into the forest on a sedan chair to meet the mountain gorillas and back after seeing the mountain gorillas in case you are physically weak to walk into the forest on your own but interested at seeing the magical mountain gorillas. One you meet your allocated mountain gorilla family, you will stay with them for a maximum of 1 hour while enjoying their forest actions like feeding, babies playing, mothers grooming their babies and the Mr. Silverback looking around peacefully scanning the environment to provide protection in case he detects any danger to his family. During your stay with the magical maintain gorillas, you will be allowed to take as many photos as you would want, and asking questions to the guide regarding the gorillas and other wildlife species you will meet in the forest while looking for the mountain gorillas.
