Day 2: Mgahinga gorilla national park – Mountain Gorilla Trekking – Return to Kigali City / Airport

Wake up very in the morning (600 am) to be served breakfast, get all your luggage packed in the vehicle, with packed lunch, drive to the Park offices to meet other guests for the briefing on the ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’ to follow during the forest walk while searching for the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitats. While at the park offices, you will be allocated a gorilla family to track plus a ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and later start your forest walk to lookout for the magical mountain gorillas. In the process of looking for the mountain gorillas, you may encounter others wildlife species such as the beautiful golden monkeys, Forest Elephants, some bird species among others. Mgahinga gorilla national park has a welcoming atmosphere that is evidenced by the feeling filled with natural beauty you get on arrival and the beautiful views. The time taken while looking for the mountain gorillas is not well known but it can take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family you are tracking. Mountain gorilla tracking since it involves walking through steeps, densely forested hills and crossing water streams before finally coming across the gorillas in the vegetation. Therefore, you have to be prepared, well-dressed, good health, physically fit and mentally determined to make it. However, when you are not in good health conditions and physically fit to meet mountain gorillas in the forest on your own but interested at seeing them, you can hire porters to carry you on the sedan chair and carrying your belongs to the forest to the mountain gorillas and back at the starting point. When you meet the mountain gorillas, you will have a maximum of 1 hour to stay with them and you will be free to take as many photos as you would want to keep your great memories with the mountain gorillas.
