Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from the airport and to Budongo Forest Reserve

Start your Our 16 days Uganda Primate, Game viewing, and Cultural Safari by a pickup from Kampala or Entebbe and drive you to Budongo forest Reserve through Zziwa Rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. This is the lonely place in Uganda where rhinos are being g protected, you will take a few hours searching for the rhinos in the sanctuary and therefore after continuing to Budongo Forest Reserve which is part of the greater Murchison conservation area. You will drive to your booked lodge for dinner and a wonderful overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo and Hiking the Top of the Falls

After having your nice breakfast in the morning, you will walk to the Budongo forest headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing where you will be told of the does and don’ts while in the forest looking for chimpanzees. Start your chimpanzee trekking walk into the forest with the help of experienced and trained guides. As you walk, you will encounter other primates and bird species and your guide will give information about all of these primates explored in the forest. You will continue until you find the habituated community of chimpanzees which you will be allowed to observe for one hour, as you take the photos and ask anything you want to know about chimpanzees, and then after you will return to your lodge for like one hour relaxation. After, you will drive to Murchison falls national park and go hike the top of the falls and explore how the river Nile waters squeeze itself via a narrow gorge and to come out forming the strong and powerful Murchison waterfalls on this planet earth and later you will go and have to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Game drives and afternoon boat cruise on river Nile

Wake up early in the morning from your lodge and take breakfasts and drive to the park for the wonderful game drive views via the morning game drives. While driving through well-established trails within the Murchison falls National park, you will be rewarded with the interesting sightings of buffaloes, elephants, hartebeest, lions, buffaloes, elephants with unique bird species within the park and these include secretary birds, open billed stork, marabou stocks, Abyssinian, black-bellied bustards among others. After returning from the morning game drives, you will drive back to your lodge, relax and have lunch, and after lunch head for the boat cruise at the lodge that goes up to the bottom of the forest and experience the wonderful tranquil magnificence that is formed by the waterfalls with water squeezing through the narrow gorge which about 43 meters. The boat cruise safari will lead you close to various animals surrounding the River Nile such as the Hippopotamus, Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants that come to the river for drinking water, and after all, you will get back to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning Game drive evening Delta Boat cruise

In the morning, you will again head to the Northern bank of the river Nile for another amazing game drive to search for the animals may be that you could have missed in the previous game drive safaris and after, you will return to the lodge for the relaxation and in the afternoon you will head for the boat cruise this time to the delta. Here you will get a chance to find elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, capture amazing views of the hippos crossing the delta as the Nile crocodiles are taking cover to grab one of the helpless animals. Here you will get the opportunity to spot the rare bird known as shoebill and later return to your lodge for dinner and the overnight stay.

Day 5: Leave for a cultural Walk-in Hoima Town

After your breakfast provided by the lodge, you will be able to drive to Hoima town which is 3 hours away from Murchison falls National Park for the cultural walk. You may decide to pass through Lake Albert as you enjoy escapements and then explore the Hoima town. From here you can go for the cultural performance at the lodge or take a walk to the local community as you learn more culture of the local people in Hoima town

Day 6: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

In the morning you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park through Fortportal city. Make a stopover in this beautiful tourism city for lunch before checking at your booked lodge in Kibale Forest National Park. Go to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

Weak up very early in the morning and have your healthier breakfast and then head to the Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for the briefing before chimpanzee tracking. While at the Kibale Forest National Park headquarters, you will join other chimpanzee trekkers. The briefing is done by the professional ranger guide and thereafter, you will be led by the guide for the walk into the forest primate walk in Kibale Forest National Park. The walk to Kibale Forest National Park will lead you to the habituated communities of chimpanzees and once you have seen the habituated chimpanzees, you will spend one hour with habituated chimpanzees as you observe them as you’re taking the photos of these great apes. And this means that you should be able to come with cameras. Kibale Forest National Park is home to over 13 species of primates can be seen even doing chimpanzee tracking and other numerous bird species. Here you will integrate the chimpanzee trekking with Bigodi wetland after lunch which is the best destination for bird watching and primate watching. See how the people have participated in the conservation of the wetland and you can as well chose to offer a hand to these groups if you wish in form of a donation. After, return to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After early morning breakfast, you drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park through amazing villages, small towns overlooking the magnificence views of the Rwenzori Mountain that are always Covered with snow as you cross the equator line at Kikorongo in Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will then head for the late evening game drives after checking at your lodge, the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park offers the best interesting features that you can explore on the game drive such as lions, antelopes, and some of the big cats such as lions and leopards. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Morning game drives and afternoon boat cruise at Kazinga channel

In the morning you will wake up very early and thereafter drive to Kasenyi plains for game drive safaris. The morning game drive safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park are full of praises with the interesting sightings of the wildlife animals such as leopards, elephants, warthogs, antelopes, lions, buffaloes, and leopards. Kasenyi plains also feature the mating ground for the antelopes for the after this adventurous game drive, you will return to your lodge for relaxation and lunch as you wait for the afternoon boat cruise at the Kazinga channel where you will see the different animal species on the channel banks after strong sunshine as they are drinking or swimming in water. The channel also attracts interesting bird species such as lesser swamp-Warbler, black bee-eaters, and the pied kingfisher among others. Thereafter you will return to the lodge and relax and you prepare for the next day’s course of action.

Day 10: Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge and evening Lake Katwe visits

After taking breakfast, you will drive to Kyambura gorge and join other chimpanzee trekkers for a chimpanzee trekking briefing before you start your chimpanzee trekking safaris in Kyambura Gorge. As you do chimpanzee trekking you will encounter other wildlife species which will be clearly identified to you by your guide. You will spend only one hour with chimpanzees upon sing them in the forests and observe them, take photos and then return to your lodge for relaxation, In the evening, you will visit Katwe cater lakes and the salt mines. Lake Katwe was formed as the result of Vulcanity and is gifted with salt deposits and see how people especially women are able to mine slat and the challenges they face. There are other caterer lakes that you will explore when on this cultural walk and later you will return to the lodge for dinner and the overnight stay.

Day 11: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

In the morning after breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which is found in southwestern Uganda in the districts of Kanungu, Kisoro, and Kabale and you will pass through the Kigezi rolling hills with different gardens that are terraced. This is the park with half of the endangered mountain gorillas that are remained in the whole World. The park also has the chimpanzee that lives in harmony with endangered Mountain Gorillas.

Day 12: Gorilla tracking and Batwa Village Walk

Gorilla trekking now is the major highlight of our 16 days Uganda Primate, Game viewing, and Cultural Safari. After taking your breakfast, with your packed lunch ready, you will now embark on the unique gorilla trekking in the jungle. This experience will make you meet and endangered mountain gorillas in their natural world which is so rewarding, you will start the gorilla trekking experience at the park headquarters for a briefing which is done by the ranger guides who will give you the instructions to follow while in the forest enjoying the gorilla trek. Here, you will also be allocated the gorilla family to trek and that’s why it important that you inform your guide about the interest of the gorilla family that you would like to trek such that you can be considered when allocating the gorilla families. Gorilla family allocation is done basing on your interests, physical fitness, and age, and after all this, you will be transferred or taken to the starting point for your gorilla family. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park may last between 30 minutes three hours and thus you need to prepare for this journey. You will walk majestically within the forest as you encounter other different wildlife which will be identified to you by your guide until you reach the habituated gorilla family. You will spend only one hour with the habituated gorilla family as you enjoy the family while observing their activities such as feeding and learn more about these animals including what do they do and what they like. Feel free to ask your ranger guide and you will get enough explanation. After, this you will be guided back to the starting point and get a certificate and then go to the loges relax and then go for the Batwa cultural experience where you will encounter the unique pygmy people who were once the inhabitants of the forest and interact with them as you are led by the local Mtwa guide, enjoy the local cultural dance and drama as presented by the Batwa. After return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 13: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

In the morning, you will need to drive from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Lake Bunyonyi which is found in Kabale District. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Africa and one of the only 3 lava dammed Lakes in Uganda and indication that the lake was the result of the larva flowing from one of the Volcanoes blocked the flowing river forcing the water flow back occupying the space or filling the left space to form Lake Bunyonyi. It is one the best place where you can relax and the Lake features different Islands which you will tour on this day. Visit the so-called punishment island where a girl who would get pregnant out of the legitimate traditional marriage would be taken damped on the island and then left to die and this is whole day activity that you can explore on Lake Bunyonyi. There are different activities, you can do canoeing to visit the island, cultural walks and then return to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight

Day 14: Hiking activities around Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, in the morning, Bunyonyi is a beautiful lake where you will tour several Islands within the lake as you get different stories about each island. Endeavor to visit the punishment island, the story about the island is very interesting with girls getting pregnant outside married were taken and left to die from the island as the punishment. The whole day exploring Bunyonyi Lake is o interesting adventure that in the evening you will be tired only get back to your lodge and reals, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 15: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park for evening game drives

After your healthy breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park with a stopover at Igongo cultural center for Lunch and have a short tour of the Ankole Cultural Museum at Igongo and learn more about the culture of the Ankole people before you proceed to Lake Mburo National park for evening game drive where you will be able to see different species of animals such as giraffes the leopard to return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight
