Rubanga forest is found in the Uganda’s south western part in Lake Mburo National Park. The forest is rich with swamps that cover the area and permanent seasonal lakes of which 5 are found in the park’s boundaries’.

Savannah vegetation and Forests have it possible for the Rubanga forest to host a large number of bird species and wildlife animals. This is also known as the place where horse riding safaris take place and of more recent, night horse riding was introduced and now you can ride to the bush with your dinner readily packed and can be eaten from bus hand. This allows a tourist to truly enjoy an African wilderness experience because they have to ride through the rolling hills and the plains. That have great views.

Rubanga Forest is famously known as a destination for birders and out of 315 bird species found in Lake Mburo national park 40 species can be found in the forest thus becoming the best place for watching birds. Uganda is among the countries with bird species and it is said it has got half of the world’s bird species population the pearl of Africa still beats other countries in nature and everybody will naturally wonder how God blessed Uganda.

Rubanga forest is a paradise for birds and is a good place for guided nature walks. Some of the birds spotted in the forest include, red headed lover bird,  Grey backed Camaroptera, Ross’s turaco, red shouldered cuckoo, double toothed barbet and shrikeblack, belier, bustard, coqui francolin,  emerald spotted wood done, bare faced go away bird, green wood hoopoe  Nubian woodpeckers and many more.

Bird species in Rubanga forest are well known for making the sky sound unique with sweet melodies of bird’s voices and also colors that are so beautiful thus making the forest unique with nature which is found only Rubanga forest and not in any other destination in Africa.

The forest is also made of unique tree species. These trees are commonly encountered and some of these are palm, fig trees, acacia, markhamia, platycladus and many others species.

There are also nature walks at Rubanga forest. During nature walks, visitors have chances of seeing animals like hyenas returning to their dens as they are done with hunting at night.  You will also watch hippopotamus as your on nature walk in the Rubanga forest. The hippos are seen coming back to the water holes after their long night of grazing.

During morning and night nature walks, you will hear birds chattering and also have an opportunity to watch Zebras and impalas which are only found in Rubanga forest premises.
