Nature Walks In Rwenzori Mountains- Rwenzori Mountains national park offers you a chance to explore more details about the mountains with a park ranger. Where you can also go through the river Mubuku and the beautiful views of the portal and baker peaks and as you hike up to about 2,300meters above sea level.  Sometimes, you can view the snow-capped of the highest peak on the Rwenzori Mountains with its great spectacular sight. As you continue with the trail, you may see a lot of chameleon species, squirrels, vervet monkeys as well as birds.

The Bwamba pass was built to fort portal along with Bundibugyo town, the local people also followed the most direct route between these settlements which is 1,500m high over the steep north Rwenzori ridge, and it is also called Bwamba Pass. The Abanya Rwenzori community group will take you through the hidden mountain villages to visit the bamboo forest as well as enjoying the beautiful rift views.

When to visit the Rwenzori Mountains for nature walks.

All tourist activities in the Rwenzori Mountains can be done all year round, but the best time is during the dry months which are from June-August and between December-February.  In the dry seasons, all trekking routes to and within the park are passable and the hiking is good than during the wet season when the trails are slippery and muddy. But you have to be well prepared by carrying hiking boots, a rain jacket, and many more, since African weather is unpredictable even during the dry season it may rain.

How to reach the Rwenzori Mountains for nature walks.

Rwenzori Mountain National Park is located in the north of the equator on the border of Uganda and Congo. If you use the road from north Kampala via Fort Portal which covers about 375kilometers will take you through to the park’s trailhead to Ruboni.  Or you may use the southern pass via Mbarara and Queen Elizabeth which covering over 450kilometers to reach Ruboni.  Nyakalengija is 25km north of the town of Kasese and 17km off the road of Kasese to Fort Portal.

Besides climbing Rwenzori Mountains, Uganda has other national parks with a wonderful experience like Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will see the endangered mountain gorillas and also get more chance to explore them. Or visit Murchison falls national park and take a boat cruise on the river Nile where you will see various water wildlife animals like hippos, crocodiles, and many more, or do a game drive and see animals like the buffaloes, giraffes, leopards, rhinos Uganda kob, and many bird species.
