Rwanda development board introduced a 30% discount on gorilla permits in low season. The low season in Rwanda happens in the months of March, April, May, October and November. A 30% discount implies that tourists will have to pay $1050. Bear in mind that this discount is not for everyone. The gorilla permit discount is given to those that spend at least 3 days in Rwanda and they must visit any of the two national parks and these are Akagera national park and Nyungwe forest national park and a single person is eligible for 1 discounted gorilla trekking experience. This strategy has increased the number of safaris in Rwanda, and it’s not only gorilla safaris but also wildlife and cultural tours in Rwanda. Discount does not apply for personalized gorilla trekking experience, filming permits and behind the scenes experience.

Despite the Rwanda gorilla permit being as twice as that of Uganda, nothing stops travelers to visit Rwanda because the experience is thrilling at a fee of $1500 per person per trek.
