Low Season Gorilla Trekking Permits In Rwanda

Low season gorilla trekking permits in Volcanoes national park Rwanda are put in place to attract more people to come and meet eye to eye with mountain gorillas. Rwanda development board introduced a 30% discount on gorilla permits in low season. The low season in Rwanda happens in the months of March, April, May, October and November. A 30% discount implies that tourists will have to pay $1050. Bear in mind that this discount is not for everyone. The gorilla permit discount is given to those that spend at least 3 days in Rwanda and they must visit any of the two national parks and these are Akagera national park and Nyungwe forest national park and a single person is eligible for 1 discounted gorilla trekking experience. This strategy has increased the number of safaris in Rwanda, and it’s not only gorilla safaris but also wildlife and cultural tours in Rwanda. Discount does not apply for personalized gorilla trekking experience, filming permits and behind the scenes experience.

Despite the Rwanda gorilla permit being as twice as that of Uganda, nothing stops travelers to visit Rwanda because the experience is thrilling at a fee of $1500 per person per trek. Guests are advised to get low season trekking permits if they are to do gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park and visit Nyungwe forest national park or take a game drive safari in Akagera national park a home to the Big 5 animals.

Gorilla permits in Rwanda were made expensive with an aim of turning Rwanda into a luxury destination safari offering mostly first class services to its visitors. The permits were also increased to increase conservation efforts to finance the conservation projects that ensure the safety and wellbeing of the giant apes.

The increase on gorilla permits was done to reduce on the number of people that would track gorillas per day. To teak mountain gorillas and spend one hour with them during the high season, you must pay $1500 a single permit per person per trek. Without a valid gorilla trekking permit, you are not allowed to trek the mountain gorillas.

Gorilla trekking in Rwanda can only be done in volcanoes national park. The park is so rich in diversity and situated in the Virunga Chain Mountains. The park does not have thick forest cover making visibility and photography more enjoyable than other gorilla parks such as Virunga national park in DR Congo, Mgahinga and Bwindi impenetrable forest national park in Uganda. You are given only one hour with mountain gorillas so you can take as many pictures as you want with the great apes of the forest provided the camera doesn’t have flash.
