All the national parks are located far from Entebbe Uganda’s main point of entry and exit for international visitors. For example, for visitors interested in visiting Rushaga and Nkuringo they can fly to Kisoro Airstrip since it is the nearest to all southern part gorilla starting points and lodges and these gorilla trekking sectors are located in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. While Ruhija and Buhoma in the northern and eastern lodge respectively can easily be accessed through Kihihi and Kayonza airstrip. For Kayonza airstrip is smaller compared to Kihihi airstrip and on top of that, it’s privately owned and therefore advisable that you use Kihihi airstrip to connect to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Consider the gorilla trekking region in Bwindi?

Before booking for a flying safari to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, you should know which sector of Bwindi you want to trek, and thus you book the gorilla trekking permit of that particular sector. In the gorilla trekking sectors, some are near airstrips while others are not. Remember that there are 4 gorilla trekking regions which include Ruhija, Rushaga, Buhoma, and Nkuringo gorilla trekking sectors. In case you book Buhoma and Ruhija the nearest airstrip is Kihihi airstrip where those who book Rushaga and Nkuringo then Kisoro airstrip would be the perfect one to use.
