The efforts of Dian Fossey ensured that the endangered mountain gorillas are safe from poachers by carrying out daily patrols, burning poacher’s houses. Dian Fossey also used media to warn the poachers from activities and dangers they were inflicting on the different gorilla families. When the patrols increased in the park Dian Fossey was able to get enemies and these were poachers who later murdered her and put her body in the cabin. She was later buried at the gorilla cemetery in volcanoes national park.

It is a centerpiece for gorilla research station in the world:

The Karisoke research station that Dian Fossey established to carry out research on mountain gorillas later gained world recognition after the death of Dian Fossey. They built a permanent building which hires a number of researchers and rangers that carry out research on endangered mountain gorillas with a help of a number of conservationists that are dedicated to protecting mountain gorillas. The research station is today used as a centerpiece for gorilla research where by gorilla researchers are using data collected from research stations to write books, conserving gorilla families in their habitants and also making sure human beings and gorillas are safe.
