Bwindi forest and Virunga National Park are famously known for mountain gorilla trekking tours and inhabit the Virunga mountain ranges.

Bwindi national park was gazette and upgraded as a national park in 1991 because of the forest cover and animal sanctuary and it was later launched as a national park in 1994. The national park is located in kanungu district in south western part of Uganda along the borders of Democratic republic of Congo, at the edge of the Albertine Rift next to Virunga National Park and is a world heritage site which can be accessed by foot.

Bwindi impenetrable national park is a diverse forest situated in  east Africa and the park has got 12 gorilla habituated families inhabited in the sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and these include Ruhija, Nkuringo, Buhoma, Rushaga, Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura, Katwe, Bushaho among others.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a reserve for animal sanctuary and provides protection to over 600 mountain gorillas on an area of 325 sq. km. the park is a forest reserve and a game sanctuary that became a game reserve in 1966 after which Mgahinga Gorilla Reserve and Rwenzori Mountain Reserve were also designated as national parks.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is managed by Uganda wildlife authority and it’s the oldest park in east Africa reach in biological species, tree species, bird species, mammals, moths, butterflies, reptiles, flora, primates and much more. The primates in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park include the chimpanzees. White colobus monkey, cream banded swallow, red tailed monkeys, vervet giant forest hog, and mammals in the park include African elephant, warthogs, African golden cats, African golden cat, golden cats, African civet as well as birds such as African green broadbill, chapin’s flycatcher, shelly’s crimson wing, grauer’s swamp warbler, turner’s eremomela and butterflies

Bwindi impenetrable national park has got mountain gorillas as main inhabitants of the park. The park has over 600 gorillas out of the 1400 mountain gorillas that inhabit the three counties in east Africa that’s volcanoes national park in Rwanda, Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. In Democratic Republic of Congo the mountain gorillas are found in Virunga National Park. The mountain gorillas do not survive for long although poaching, habitat loss and diseases have led to reduction in mountain gorilla numbers in east Africa. The park is rich in fruits where by mountain gorillas climb on the trees to eat these fruits, seeds and foliage brunches.

The flora in Virunga National Park includes 350 plant species, over 300 tree species, 250 plant endemics to Albertine Rift, grasslands and wetlands with papyrus, sacaton grasses, paperback thorn, am batch, kowai fruit, African caper, wild cucurbits, conkerberyy, and African elephants. The mammals living in Virunga national park include African elephants, chimpanzees, blue monkeys, red monkey, de brazza’s monkey, olive baboons, grey checked mangabey, mountain gorillas, Hamlyn’s monkey, Dent’s Mona monkey, okapis, antelopes, pelicans, warthogs, bongo, and waterbucks among others.
