Buligi game reserve is part of Murchison falls national park together with Budongo forest and Kaniyo Pabidi forest reserve. Buligi game reserve is blessed with a variety of wildlife i.e. hippos, buffaloes, lions, leopards, bush bucks, warthogs and giraffes among others. Birds i.e. shoebill, African jacana and marabou stork among others. The abundance of Buligi game reserve is because of wide range of eco systems such as savannah grassland, savannah woodland, riverine vegetation and forests and is a herb for game drives safaris in Murchison falls national park.

Buligi game reserve is located between Victoria Nile and Albert Nile o an area of 160km. the game drive at Buligi game reserve can take 3-4 hours as you have interactions with Africa wilderness. The area has got golden savannah grassland with scattered acacia tress all over the area. While in Buligi game reserve you will have a great view of the Eastern African rift valley

While on the game drive in Buligi area, you will have a look at wild animals’ i.e. hartebeests, lions, hyenas, water bucks, warthogs, leopards, crocodiles, giraffes along the shores of River Nile and much more. You can also see a number of bird species such as white thighed king fisher, fly catcher, African jacana, African fish eagle, shoebill stork, grey crowned crane, black headed lapwing and Abyssinian ground hornbill among others

At Buligi game reserve there is a hot air balloon which is a great idea to explore the wild secrets in the area compared to the game drives on the vehicle. The hot air balloon gives you a chance to watch predators attacking animals killing their prey and clear view of nocturnal animals coming back to their hiding places from the night in search for food i.e. hippos, leopards and other cats.

Buligi game reserve in found west of paraa region on the northern banks of River Nile and extends to albert delta. It’s the best game track in Murchison falls national park characterized by savannah grassland, acacia, riverine vegetation. You have a spot at wildlife in the park e.g. animals like lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and bird species. There are two games drive at Buligi game reserve with the morning being the best time and evening game drive conducted by a well-trained guide assigned from Uganda wildlife authority for security reasons.

Getting to Buligi Game Reserve.

Kampala via Masindi. Its 210km from the city of Kampala taking you through savannah grassland of Nakasongola district where get to see white rhinos at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary and you will also see Budongo forest.

From Masindi falls

It’s a 51km distance from Murchison falls and takes you through Bulisa which is 35 kms before another continuation of 15 kms to Buligi wildlife reserve. You can as well drive from Masindi town to Kichumbanyobo gate then through Budogo tropical forest to paraa region and finally to Buligi game reserve.

When to visit Buligi Game Reserve.

The game reserve is always open throughout the year however dry season is the most favorable for park activities characterized with high temperatures forcing animals to gather around water sources for water and can easily be seen. Dry season is December to February and June to September
