Akagera National Park Entrance Fees-  The park is located on the northeastern side of Rwanda on the borders of Tanzania. The park has more than 8000 large mammals include the big 5 mammals – African elephant, African lion, leopard, buffaloes, and rhinos. The park has other animals such as giraffes, topis, cape eland, impalas, hyenas to mention but a few. The park is home to over 525 different bird species such as long-crested eagle, cattle egret, grey crowned crane, fish eagles, grey-backed fiscals, augur buzzard, pied crow, and many others.

Akagera national park entrance fees are charged per 24 hours, after paying entrance fees, tourists are allowed to explore and enjoy the park’s fauna and flora and they include;

East African Community citizens are charged USD 7.50 and children 6 – 12 years pay USD 4.

East African community residents pay USD 35 and children 6 – 12 pay USD 20

Foreign non-residents pay USD 50 and children 6 – 12 pay USD 30

Vehicle/ minibus – east African community registered = $12

Bus / Over lander – East Africa community registered= $24

Bus/ over lander (foreign registered) = $100

Vehicle/ Mini bus (foreign registered) = $40

Fees for Safari Activities In Akagera National Park

Night game drives 2-3 hours and a ranger guide = $40

Sport fishing $25 (adults) and $15 (children aged 6 – 12)

Boat cruise morning $ 35 (adults) and $20 (children aged 6-12)

Lunch / sunset boat cruise $180

Camping $25 (adults) and $15 (children aged 6 – 12)

Behind the scenes tour $25 (adults) and $15 (children aged 6 – 12)

Game drive, vehicle fee, guide fee, and a drive $180 – maximum 7 people for a maximum of 5 hours

Full day game drive, driver, vehicle, and guide – maximum 7 people $280

Walk the line 7 km along the fence for 2 hours $30 (adults) and $20 (children 6 – 12) – minimum 3 people.

Community cultural tours $30 (adults) and $20 (children 6 – 12) – minimum 3 people

Entry requirements into Rwanda by international visitors

For one to be allowed to enter the country of Rwanda to go game viewing in Akagera national park, mountain gorilla trekking or golden monkey trekking in volcanoes national park and chimpanzee trekking as well as canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park you must have a valid passport and Visa of which a Visa can be obtained on arrival at Kigali city international airport or from your local Rwanda embassy in your country. Visitors from countries like South Africa, Mauritius, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Hong Kong, Germany, Sweden, and DR Congo don’t need a visa.
