Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pickup from Entebbe airport and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

You will be picked by our well-trained and hospitable Africa Adventure Vacation safari guide to commence your 5 day gorilla and chimpanzee habituation experience safari in Uganda. This safari will start early in the morning and you will drive towards the southeastern region of Uganda where Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located. This is an approximately 8-9 hours road trip full of interesting stopovers where you will be able to stretch your muscles and relax shortly before you proceed to the next stop. The first stopover is always at the equator crossing for the photo moments and then continue to Mbarara city to have lunch. After Mbarara city, you will travel via Ntungamo and Kabale with the scenic views of the terraced garden in the rolling hills of Kigezi and the attractive plantation farms with local people there doing their usual daily activities. Your next and final stop will be the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the Rushaga region of Bwindi Forest where the gorilla habituation activity takes place. Check in to your hotel for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla habituation in Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park

Wake up early, have breakfasts, and go straight to the park headquarters where you will join or be joined with other trekkers for the gorilla habituation experience briefing to give your insight into what you should or shouldn’t do while on gorilla habituation experience in the Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park Rushaga sector. After the briefing, a team of researchers and guides you to the forest as you search for the endangered mountain Gorillas. Once you see the gorillas you will spend 4 hours with the gorillas that are being habituated. You may be allowed by researchers to engage in the activities that researchers do to make gorillas get used to the people such as the naming of the gorillas, calling them, collecting samples, and others. You will then be guided back to the park headquarters where you had started from and receive a certificate or gorilla habituation experience success and then you will be driven back to your lodge for dinner and the overnight stay.

Day 3: Wakeup and drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Our safari guide will pick you up at the lodge and drive you to Kibale Forest National Park after your morning breakfast. You will pass through Queen Elizabeth National Park where you might see some of the wildlife in the park as you bypass the park. You will even get a chance to stop at another equator line crossing which is at Kikorongo in Queen Elizabeth National Park and then proceed for Fortportal the tourism city where you will have lunch and then drive to Kibale Forest National Park to check at the lodge that we have booked for you for relaxation and the overnight stay.

Day 4: Whole day chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale

After morning breakfast, you will get your packed lunch and then our drive will drive you to Kibale forest National Park headquarters where you will join other trekkers for chimpanzee habituation experience briefing. After briefing, the park ranger and the researcher will lead you forest to search for the semi-habituated chimpanzees. On your way into the forest, you will encounter some other forest species such as birds, primates like monkeys and other mammals if you’re lucky. Kibale forest national park has over 12 species of primates and therefore you may encounter other species as your searching for the chimpanzees. You will spend the whole day in the forest with rangers and guides as you enjoy this experience with observation and taking photographs of the intelligent chimpanzees

Chimpanzee trekking and chimpanzee habituation experience are the major activities done in Kibale forest national park. Kibale Forest National Park has over 15000 chimpanzees and this increases your chances of seeing them in the park. Visitors interested in doing chimpanzee habituation experience are allowed four hours and in company with researchers, trackers, and drivers, visitors will visit the chimpanzee family that is under the habituation process. Chimpanzee habituation activity is done to ensure that the chimpanzees get used to the people and start being trekked, chimpanzees that are not habituated tend to be stubborn as they keep moving through the forest, jumping over the trees, hiding when they see you but once you find them you will be able to get the best of them how they move, feed and how they regroup to live in communities.
