4 Days Mgahinga Uganda gorilla safari is a short Uganda safari for mountain gorilla tracking combining mountain gorilla trekking, Uganda equator tour and visiting Lake Bunyonyi. Mgahinga gorilla national park is the second-best national park in Uganda to meet eye to eye with rare mountain gorillas in their natural habitat after Bwindi impenetrable national park.  Mgahinga gorilla national park being located on the border of Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo, it is the best point to have great views of the 3-countries Rwanda, DR Congo and Uganda. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick from Entebbe airport – Drive to your booked accommodation in Kampala city

On your arrival at Entebbe international airport, you will be warmly met by a company representative who will be safari guide throughout this 4 Days Mgahinga Uganda gorilla safari for meet and greet and be transferred to your hotel in Entebbe town to check in, freshen yourself and later meet your safari guide at the reception to be briefed about the tour.  All the selected hotels are about 5-10 minutes’ drive from Entebbe international airport.

Later, if time allows, go to Entebbe botanical gardens for a nature walk where you may spot some primates and bird species. The walk will take you up-to the shores of Lake Victoria enjoy the fresh breezes from the African largest water body, spot some water birds as well as getting used to the Uganda’s beautiful nature. Dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Entebbe town – Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park

Wake up very in the morning to be served breakfast (0630), get your already, check out of your hotel, meet your safari guide and start your 9-10hrs journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park found in southwestern Uganda across the Equator line.  Your way, you will have a stopover at Kayabwe equator line where the planet divide into northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere while at this point, you will see the water experiment which is done on each side of the planet that shows how forces moves on each side of the planet,  take some memorial beautiful photos when you have spread your legs in each side of the planet, have a cup of coffee and then proceed your journey passed Lake Mburo National Park where you may have a chances of seeing zebras on the privates cattle farms feeding together with cattle. Have another stopover at Igongo cultural museum to have lunch, tour the museum and thereafter, continue with your drive through the beautiful Kigazi islands that is made of forested and terraced hills which gives the entire place beautiful views which will make your journey so adventurous. On arrival at the park, check in at your booked lodge, relax, have dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Mgahinga gorilla national park – Mountain gorilla trekking – Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Wake up very early in the morning to enjoy your heavy breakfast, have your packed lunch and meet your safari guide and drive to the park information center to meet other guests for the pre-trekking briefings on mountain gorilla trekking experience, be allocated a ranger and local UWA guide and thereafter head to the forest to search for the magical mountain gorillas. Mountain gorilla tracking is one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences which offers lifetime experience and not to be missed once you are in Africa on a wildlife safari.  The time spent while searching for the mountain gorillas in the forest is not known but it can take around 2-6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family, the physical fitness and speed of trackers. While searching for the mountain gorillas, you may encounter other wildlife species which lives in Mgahinga forests such as the beautiful golden monkeys, forest elephants, others primates plus several birds. Your guide will be able to give you as much information as possible about everything that you encounter which will make your forest walk so interesting. Once you meet your allocated mountain gorilla family, you will stay with it for a maximum of 1 hour and you will be free to capture as many photos as you would want and to ask anything that you wish to know about the endangered mountain gorillas. After spending an hour with the magical mountain gorillas, return to the information center to pick your tracking certificate, have refreshments and lunch, and then start your drive to Lake Bunyonyi to check in at your booked lodge to freshen yourself and spend your evening relaxing on the shores of the Lake. Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi – Morning boat canoeing safari – Return to Entebbe international Airport

Rise to have breakfast and go for your morning boat riding safari on Lake Bunyonyi one of the interesting safari to do at Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Uganda and second deepest in Africa after Tanganyika of Tanzania besides being so deep, it is the calmest and most beautiful lake in Uganda made of 29 islands small islands and a home to over 200 species of birds where its name originated. Each of the small islands on Lake Bunyonyi has unique interesting story such as the Akampene Island also known as “Punishment Island” where pregnant unmarried girls would be taken and left till death because in some African culture it is an abomination for a girl to get pregnant before her official marriage. Morning boat riding gives clear views of the sunrise and it is so rewarding with memorable experience. After boat canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi, return to your lodge to check out and later start your drive back to Entebbe international airport with a stopover at Igongo cultural center to have lunch and thereafter, drive straight to you Entebbe international airport to prepare for your return flight.
