This 4 days gorillas and Lake Mburo safari will take you to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park located in southwestern Uganda where you will have a chance to spend one hour with mountain gorillas in their natural habitats. On this safari, you will visit Lake Mburo national park where you will have a boat cruise of the waters and a game drive where you will have great views of the park’s animals such as zebras, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, giraffes among others.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park

On the first day of your safari, our driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel or Entebbe international airport and brief you about your safari. After you will drive off the Bwindi impenetrable forest national park located in southwestern Uganda.  On your way, you will have a stopover at the equator at Kayabwe where you will take photos, videos and also buy some souvenirs at the gift shops. From the equator, you will proceed with your journey and stop in Mbarara where you will have lunch at Igongo cultural center for Ankole kingdom. From Mbarara to Kisoro you will enjoy great views of the rolling hills of Kigezi, beautiful homesteads, and plantations. Upon arrival at Bwindi impenetrable, you will have to check into your booked lodge, relax in the evening have dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park

Today is the main highlight of your 4 Days Bwindi Gorillas And Lake Mburo Safari! After morning breakfast, get your packed lunch and other things you need for a memorable gorilla trekking experience in Uganda. Meet your driver-guide for a transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing where you will meet other trekkers. During the briefing, you will be told the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking, get grouped not exceeding 8, and be given a ranger guide to lead you into the jungle in search of gorillas. The gorilla trekking activity in Bwindi takes 2 to several hours depending on the location of gorillas that day for they keep moving from one to place to another looking for food. During gorilla trekking in Bwindi, you will meet some of the park animals such as baboons, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest’s monkeys, and some of the park birds. When you finally meet your allocated habituated gorilla family you will be given an hour to stay around them where you will learn about their behaviors, watch mothers breastfeed, young ones play, gorillas hunt, the silverbacks patrol, and others fight each other. You will take photos and record videos to go and share with your family and friends back home. After gorilla trekking, you will trek back to the headquarters, get your trekking certificate and meet your driver for a transfer back to your lodge for evening relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Mburo – Afternoon boat cruise

In the morning you will wake up to a morning breakfast after check out of your lodge and transfer to lake Mburo one of the smallest national parks in Uganda. You will have your lunch on your way to Mbarara. On arrival at the park, you will check in your booked lodge and relax while waiting for an afternoon boat cruise.
In the afternoon you will meet your driver for a drive to Lake Mburo for a boat cruise. During the boat cruise, you will be able to see some of the park’s lakes such as lake Kazamu and lake Bwa, water animals like hippos and crocodiles, birds such as crested cranes, Abyssinian ground hornbills, saddle bill stork among others. You will also see some of the park animals like the antelopes and buffaloes on the lake shores drinking water or bathing. After a boat cruise, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning game drive and transfer to Kampala / Entebbe

On the last day of your safari, you will wake up for a morning breakfast later and meet your driver for a morning game drive in the park. During the game drive, you will be rewarded with amazing views of the park’s animals like the giraffes, impalas, zebras, waterbucks, elands, oribi, topis, warthogs among others feeding in open savanna plains, view the amazing sunrise, different species of birds among others. After a game drive, you will get back to the lodge have lunch and check out of your lodge and start on your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. You will have a second chance to stop at the equator for photos and also buy some souvenirs from the nearby shops. You will reach Kampala later in the evening get dropped off at the airport or Entebbe international airport to end your 4 days Bwindi gorillas and Lake Mburo safari
