Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Bwindi

This is about a 4-5 hours journey with interesting views of the rolling hills of Rwanda before you cross to Uganda. From here you will cross Uganda and Rwanda border at Katuna or Cyanika and have a stopover at Kisoro town or Kabale for lunch and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable le Forest National Park to relax and have lunch as you wait for the glorious gorilla trekking the following day.

Best time to go for gorilla trekking in Uganda

The best time for going for mountain gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda as well as the Democratic Republic of Congo is during the drier months of June to early September and then from December to February. How much does it cost for the Gorilla permit?

A gorilla trekking permit in Uganda costs USD700 per trek per person and people interested in the Gorilla habituation experience will buy the gorilla habituation experience permit at USD1500. A single gorilla permit is used once or as a single day or gorilla trek and see the gorillas for one hour in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga National Park. The money is paid to the Uganda Wildlife Authority by paying USD700 for Non-foreign residents, USD600 for Foreign residents, and Uganda shillings 250000 for East African Residents. In Rwanda, you will be able to pay a normal gorilla trekking permit for about USD1500 which can be paid to the Rwanda Development Board with its offices in Kigali or Ruhengeri park headquarters.
