Kyambura gorge is the only place in Queen Elizabeth national park with habituated chimpanzees for tracking. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up– Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park – Evening wildlife sighting game drive

Early in the morning, you will be met by our company safari guide to at your residence / hotel in Kampala / Entebbe for a short briefing on your 3 Days Kyambura Gorge chimpanzee Safari

To queen Elizabeth national park then transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park found in western Uganda. The park is about 6 to 7 hours’ drive including some stopovers. On your way, you will have a stopover at the Kayabwe Equator landmark where you will be able to watch the water experiment which explains the movement of forces on the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere and then at the center of the planet, take some memorial photographs, visit the craft shop, have a cup of coffee to feel the taste of Ugandan made coffee and later proceed to Igongo cultural museum to have lunch, tour the museum which promotes and preserve the cultural heritage of south-west Uganda. Thereafter, drive to the Queen Elizabeth national park where you will arrive in the evening to check in at your booked lodge and later drive to the park for your evening wildlife sighting game drive where you will have a chance to meet several animal species such as the Elephants, Lions, Caped buffaloes, Warthogs, various primate species and among others. Later very late in the evening return to your lodge to relax, be served dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Queen Elizabeth national park – Chimpanzee tracking at Kyambura Gorge – Afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga channel

Wake up to have breakfast, have your drinking water, binoculars, meet your safari guide and later drive to Kyambura gorge hiking starting point. Kyambura gorge is one of the most impressive landscapes in Queen Elizabeth national park and Uganda comprising of a great ecosystem such as water streams and the underground tropical forest which shelters abundance of primates and birds. At the starting point, you will briefed about the gorge, day activities and what to expect during the gorge walk by UWA ranger guide and then, set off for the guided nature and primates walk inside the gorge. The walk will take you through the thick forest canopy and riverine forest trees in search for the chimpanzees and and other species like the olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys and many more. Kyambura Gorge is also a shelter to a several different bird species mostly forest bird species such as the African Finfoot, Martial Eagle, Blue-headed bee-eater, Black-rumpled Buttonquail, Bar-tailed Godwit, African skimmer, Flycatcher, white tailed lark, Verreaux’s eagle owl, corncrake, pink backed pelican,  black bee-eater, papyrus gonolek, papyrus canary, African broadbill, white-winged warbler, and many more. The time taken before meeting the chimpanzees is not known but one you meet them, you will have a maximum of 1 hour to stay with them, take photos and ask as many questions as you would want. After your chimpanzee and nature walk, return to your accommodation to have lunch, relax and drive to the beautiful Kazinga channel for an afternoon two hours’ boat cruise. The Boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel is one of the highly recommended adventurous activities to us visitors of Queen Elizabeth national park. The cruise will bring you very close to several mammals such as the Hippos, Nile crocodiles and Buffaloes, Elephants and many others plus various water birds. The fantastic experience during 2 hours’ boat cruise safari along the Kazinga channel, makes a must do adventure to every guest to Queen Elizabeth national park. Later after the boat safari along the Kazinga channel drive back to your accommodation to relax, dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Queen Elizabeth national park –Morning game drive – Return to Kampala / Entebbe

After having your tasty breakfast, get all your luggage packed in your vehicle, check out of your lodge and then drive to Queen Elizabeth national park Kasenyi plains for a morning wildlife sighting game drive. Queen Elizabeth national park is an understandably one of the Uganda’s most popular national park and an ideal habitat for classic big game such as the four mammals of the big five family of the African savannah (Lions, Leopards, Elephants and Buffaloes), several antelope species, primates, warthogs and many others. Game drives are one of the highlights of Queen Elizabeth national park to spot several mammals, enjoy the beautiful views of the savannah. After the game drive, set off on your return journey back to your residence / hotel in Kampala/ Entebbe or drop you to Entebbe international airport to prepare for your return flight. The return journey will take you via Kasese town where you will have magnificent views of the Rwenzori Mountains, and Fort Portal the coolest and clean city in Uganda where you will have lunch and proceed with your drive through the beautiful tea plantations and then drop you off to your location or Entebbe international airport.
