Detailed itinerary 

Day 1: Pick up and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be welcomed by the Africa adventure vacations safari guide who is professional and knowledgeable about Uganda and Rwanda countries destinations, and depending on the time you have at disposal, you will be able to go for a short tour in Kigali city as you get used to the environment of the country with 1000 hills and after this short Kigali city excursion, you will drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park for the dinner and the overnight stay

Day 2: Canopy Walk and Chimpanzee tracking

Wake up in the morning and have your well-prepared breakfasts and then drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park for the Day’s activities. In Nyungwe Forest National Park, you go to the park headquarters where you will either find or be joined by other clients for the chimpanzee trekking briefing. In Nyungwe Forest National Park, the chimpanzees are not yet habituated and therefore you will have to wake up early in the morning such that you get a chance of seeing these amazing creatures in Rwanda the country with a thousand hills. You can as well decide to engage in forest canopy walks whereby you will move from one end of the forest to another end as you enjoy wonderful views of the forest tops as well as different bird species after return to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

From Nyungwe Forest National Park, you will drive to Volcanoes National Park for an overnight bat your lodge as you’re preparing for the gorilla trekking activity. The journey from Nyungwe to Volcanoes National park is interesting with spectacular scenes of the Rwanda rolling hills with interesting stopovers.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

In the morning after having your tasty breakfast prepared by your lodge, you will go for volcanoes park headquarter for the gorilla trekking briefing and later head into the forest to search for the habituated mountain gorilla family led by the guide. The activity of gorilla trekking is so interesting and it brings you close to the real feeling of Africa’s wildness in the wild. You will as well encounter other species such as birds, rare golden monkeys and if you’re lucky, you can encounter the forests buffaloes, and elephants. There is an option of trekking golden monkeys in case you don’t feel like trekking gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. After the gorilla trekking activity, you will return to your lodge to have lunch and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

After breakfast on this 5th day of your 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda combined wildlife and gorilla safari, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park whereby you will cross Katuna or Cyanika border and then to Kisoro or Kabale and finally to check-in at your booked hotel in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for dinner and overnight stay

Day 6: Bwindi Gorilla trekking day

Today is the main highlight of your 15 Day Uganda And Rwanda Combined Wildlife & Gorilla Safari! After taking your breakfast, with your packed lunch ready, you will now embark on the unique gorilla trekking in the jungle. This experience will make you meet and endangered mountain gorillas in their natural world which is so rewarding, you will starting the gorilla trekking experience at the park headquarters for a briefing which is done by the ranger guides who will give you the instructions to follow while in the forest enjoying the gorilla trek. Here, you will also be allocated the gorilla family to trek and that’s why it important that you inform your guide about the interest of the gorilla family that you would like to trek such that you can be considered when allocating the gorilla families. Gorilla family allocation is done basing on your interests, physical fitness, and age, and after all this, you will be transferred or taken to the starting point for your gorilla family. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park may last between 30 minutes three hours and thus you need to prepare for this journey. You will walk majestically within the forest as you encounter other different wildlife which will be identified to you by your guide until you reach the habituated gorilla family. You will spend only one hour with the habituated gorilla family as you enjoy the family while observing their activities such as feeding and learn more about these animals including what do they do and what they like. Feel free to ask your ranger guide and you will get enough explanation. After this, you will be guided back to the starting point and get a certificate and then go to the loges to relax, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for evening game drive

You will start the journey to Queen Elizabeth National park found in western Uganda. Queen Elizabeth National park is one of the most visited national parks in Uganda with several wildlife species such as elephants, buffaloes, leopards, Nile crocodiles, and tree-climbing lions. The journey will take you approximately 6 hours and you will reach the park via Ishasha sector in the southern direction where you will have lunch and then as you drive slowly on a game drive for sightings of the tree-climbing lions and other species such as the elephants, antelopes and if you’re lucky you will be able to spot, leopards, and spotted hyenas. Then you will proceed to your lodge in the northern sector of the park for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Point of stop:  Queen Elizabeth National Park 

Journey time: Approximately five to six hours (5-6)

Day 8: Morning Game drive and afternoon boat cruise

In the morning you will wake up very early and thereafter drive to Kasenyi plains for game drive safaris. The morning game drive safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park are full of praises with the interesting sightings of the wildlife animals such as leopards, elephants, warthogs, antelopes, lions, buffaloes, and leopards. Kasenyi plains also feature the mating ground for the antelopes for the after this adventurous game drive, you will return to your lodge for relaxation and lunch as you wait for the afternoon boat cruise at the Kazinga channel where you will see the different animal species on the channel banks after strong sunshine as they are drinking or swimming in water. The channel also attracts interesting bird species such as lesser swamp-Warbler, black bee-eaters, and the pied kingfisher among others. Thereafter you will return to the lodge and relax and you prepare for the next day’s course of action.

Day 9: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Wake up and have the morning game drives in the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and get rewarded with herds of buffaloes, elephants, and other animals such as antelope-like kobs, have lunch and then drive to your booked lodge in Kibale Forest National Park

Journey time: Approximately three to four hours (3-4)

Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland walk

Weak up very early in the morning and have your healthier breakfast and then head to the Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for the briefing before chimpanzee tracking. The briefing is done by the professional ranger guide and thereafter, you will be led by the guide for the walk into the forest primate walk in Kibale Forest National Park. The walk to Kibale Forest National Park will lead you to the habituated communities of chimpanzees and once you have seen the habituated chimpanzees, you will spend one hour with habituated chimpanzees as you observe them as you’re taking the photos of these great apes. And this means that you should be able to come with cameras. Kibale Forest National Park is home to over 13 species of primates can be seen even doing chimpanzee tracking and other numerous bird species. Here you will integrate the chimpanzee trekking with Bigodi wetland after lunch which is the best destination for bird watching and primate watching. See how the people have participated in the conservation of the wetland and you can as well chose to offer a hand to these groups if you wish in form of a donation. After, return to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 11: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast in the morning, with your drive, you will drive to Murchison Falls National Park and have a stopover in Masindi town for lunch before you proceed to Murchison falls National Park. After reaching Murchison falls National Park, you visit the top of the falls where you will enjoy the spectacular views of the River Nile and a general overview of the Murchison falls National Park landscape. You will use about 45 minutes from the bottom of the falls to the top of the falls. Enjoy the devil cauldron which you can call Mother Nature’s wondrous gorge as you observe waters of the Nile squeezing itself through the narrow lodge which is about 6 meters after this worthwhile experience, go to your lodge, relax and have an overnight stay.

Day 12: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

Wake up early in the morning from your lodge and take breakfasts and drive to the park for the wonderful game drive views via the morning game drives. While driving through well-established trails within the Murchison falls National park, you will be rewarded with the interesting sightings of buffaloes, elephants, hartebeest, lions, buffaloes, elephants with unique bird species within the park and these include secretary birds, open billed stork, marabou stocks, Abyssinian, black-bellied bustards among others. After returning from the morning game drives, you will drive back to your lodge, relax and have lunch, and after lunch head for the boat cruise at the lodge that goes up to the bottom of the forest and experience the wonderful tranquil magnificence that is formed by the waterfalls with water squeezing through the narrow gorge which about 43 meters. The boat cruise safari will lead you close to various animals surrounding the River Nile such as the Hippopotamus, Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants that come to the river for drinking water, and after all, you will get back to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight stay.

Day 13: Drive to Kampala through Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After early morning breakfast, you will transfer from Murchison Falls National Park to Jinja for white water rafting and touring the source of the Nile. After Murchison falls National Park, you will pass Ziwa Rhino sanctuary en-route before Jinja and do the rhino tracking, get a chance to see the endangered rhinos grazing in the sanctuary while on foot as you see then just of a mouth to nose distance, however, you will be advised to maintain the 6-meter rule distance, the sanctuary also has a lot of bird species which you can also explore. This means that when you add what you have seen in Murchison Falls National park with Rhinos, then you will have enjoyed the complete experience for the big 5 animals coupled with primates on the 14 day Uganda safari tour from Kigali Rwanda, and thereafter you will embark on your journey to Jinja with your guide.

After a peaceful night, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast, after your breakfast, get ready for the sunrise boat that will take you to the source of the Nile in Jinja. Jinja is regarded as a city with alit of tourist attractions and its where the river Nile has its source. River Nile is the longest river in the world fulfilling your adventure expectations. A boat ride will lead you to the source and you will spend about one hour for this source of the Nile tours. After, you will head for the most adventurous activity, call it white water rafting which starts with a briefing. Thereafter, you will be able to go into the waters and start your white water rafting on the longest river in the world. Enjoy the raft over the best grade five rapids offering leap and drops as you enjoy the spectacular views of the bush and forested islands and the sparkling sound of the water over the falls. Wooden canoes operated by the local people will also be seen as most of the locals will come close to enjoy the best of white water rafting and this one of the best adventures that you will ever have. After, you can return to your lodge, relax and make a short Jinja city walk before dinner and overnight at your lodge.
