Wetland birding sport on Mabamba bay swamp in Uganda: Mabamba swamp on the shores of Lake Victoria in Uganda is the best wetland bird watching site with an amazing experience of shoebill tracking, of which shoebill stork in Uganda is the most bird list by bird lovers. Mabamba swamp bay is situated on the northern parts of Lake Victoria in Entebbe, and it is surrounded by water lilies, marshes and many more wetland grasses. The wetland inhabits about 300 bird species which includes many globally endangered species, 7 of Uganda’s 12 Lake Victoria biome restricted species and plenty of wetland species. Mabamba Bay wetland can be accessed using roads or water. From Entebbe town or Kampala city, but Nakiwogo landing site in Entebbe is the easiest way, here you will take a motorized boat to the island then meet a wetland guide and start your search for shoebills. When you’re from Kampala take a rough Kawuku to Nakawuka road to Kasanje trading center and this drive will take you 1-2 hours from the capital city of Uganda which Kampala, then you will reach the wetland and start the search for the shoebill stork.

How to get to Mabamba Swamp in Uganda

By road
You can drive from either Kampala city or Entebbe town to Mabamba swamp Bay through Kasanje trading center and this will take you about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the local canoe boat and start your search for the endangered shoebill and other bird species.

By water
You can hire a speed boat which will take you like 45 minutes to the swamp entrance where you will find a motorized canoe boat and this takes you deep in the swamp for searching of the shoebill.
