The activity in Nyungwe forest always starts with a briefing at around 5.00 am because these primates are mostly to be seen in the early morning and they tend to move about which needs a tourist to be active as you follow after them. Canopy Walk experience in Nyungwe forest

The canopy walk in Nyungwe forest is best along the Igishigishigi trail. The canopy walk hangs 60 meters above the forest floor between huge trees and towers, which provides a wonderful view like lush hills and tea plantations. It starts from Uwinka Visitor Centre and it is usually done at 8:00 am, 10:00 am/3:00 am.  The Canopy walk experience in Nyungwe also takes 2 hours to complete.

Birding watching

Most bird species in Nyungwe are commonly found in shrubs, in the trees, or at the edges of the forest next to the tea plantations. These are some of the bird species that are usually seen around the Nyungwe forests include the White-tailed Crested Flycatcher, the Handsome Francolin, Rwenzori Nightjar, the Red- Throated Alethe, Dwarf Honeyguide, Greatblue, Rwenzori Turaco, montane Double Collared Sun, and other species. There are well-maintained trails on your birding safari in the Nyngwe forest as well as trained bird guides that are based at the park.

Community visit

How to reach Nyungwe Forest National Park for Rwanda Stargazing Tour

Nyungwe forest national park is found in the southwestern parts of Rwanda on the border of Burundi which will take you about 4- 5 hours to drive from Kigali city or you can use a flight from Kigali international airport to Kamembe by Rwanda air every morning from 8:30 am and arriving at 9:00 am and this takes just 40 minutes.

After visiting Nyungwe forest national park, you can spare some time and visit other national parks in Rwanda like Volcanoes national park where you will get a chance to know more about mountain gorilla or golden monkey tracking.
