Rwanda Is Promoting Uganda Gorilla Tourism Indirectly

Rwanda is promoting Uganda gorilla tourism indirectly- Uganda has emerged as one of the popular tourist destinations in East Africa, yes it is true that the development of tourism in Rwanda is promoting the gorilla tourism destination in Uganda, it is hard to understand on paper but there are different ways in which Rwanda is promoting Uganda gorilla tourism. Mountain gorillas are found in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park, Mgahinga national park, volcanoes national park, and Virunga National park.

Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park in Uganda are close to Rwanda Kigali international airport as compared to Uganda’s Entebbe international airport and this has made it easy for tourists to travel from Kigali Rwanda to Uganda Bwindi and Mgahinga national park instead of flying to Entebbe International Airport.

How Rwanda is promoting Uganda gorilla tourism

Rwanda as earlier mentioned is promoting the Uganda gorilla tourism the fact that the drive from Kigali international airport to Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park or Mgahinga National Park takes only 4 to 5 hours as compared to 8 to 9 hours from Entebbe International Airport. This route means that even tourists can do a two days gorilla tour to Uganda through Rwanda which cannot happen when one uses the Entebbe international airport. This assigns that Rwanda is truly promoting the Uganda gorilla tourism activity.

It is important to note that Rwanda increased its gorilla trekking permit price from USD750 to USD 1500 to market Rwanda as the luxury gorilla trekking destination. However, this is a good investment venture for the future of Rwanda, this has increased the number of tourists getting and flocking Uganda who prefers seeing affordable mountain gorillas and the gorilla trekking permit in Uganda goes for USD700 per person per trek.

Even some visitors decide to pay USD1500 in Uganda to participate in the gorilla habituation process that takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. With the gorilla habituation process, one will need to spend 4 hours with mountain gorillas instead of one-hour seeing gorillas through normal gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. Because of this if someone comes out clearly and says that Rwanda is promoting Uganda’s gorilla tourism then he or she should be blamed.  Even the tour operators in Rwanda have been forced Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda because of the hike of the prices of gorilla permits in Rwanda.
