Ruhija is also a sector of Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park that is found in the Eastern parts of the park, Bwindi is located in the southwestern sides of Uganda and it is the only park in Africa with many mountain gorillas.

In Ruhija sector, there are 3 gorilla families that is, Oruzongo, kyaguriro and Bitukura family and it has 2 going through habituation process. Each day in Ruhija sector, there are 16 permits available for mountain gorilla tracking but they are also introduced to Kyagurira family as trekking family and this is made up 24 permits in Ruhija.

In Ruhija sector, Kyaguriro is used by researchers, unlike in other Gorilla family, here are only 6 people allowed to trek and you are asked for a formal permission from the Uganda wildlife Authority (UWA)

Ruhija sector is not too fixed like Buhoma sector which is always congested with visitors and this sector Ruhija has few families but it gives a very big chance to the visitor to enjoy more ecotourism experience and a good spectacle due to lots locations.

Ruhija sector is located in between the northern part of Buhoma sector and the southern parts of Kibale town, therefore Ruhija sector can be accessed from North and south. The sector covers 218km and connects to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This accepts travelers who want to trek gorilla to access game drives in the Ishasha sector where there are tree climbing lions.

Mountain Gorilla trekking is not the only activity in the sector but there are also other activities within the region and they include primates like the white and black colobus monkeys that are seen playing on the tree branches, bird watching for bird lovers this is a best place for birding. The Ruhija sector is close to the crater lake of Bunyonyi and this is a good place to chill from. There are also fascinating lakes on islands and hills. Batwa cultures are explored on canoe rides. A number of accommodations are available like gorilla mist camp for travelers.
