Mweya peninsula is perched close to the shores of Lake Edward, Mweya peninsular is one of the spectacular and most visited places in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Mweya peninsula offers easy access to the famous Kazinga channel and Lake Edward with Mweya safari lodge providing various accommodation units close to the excellent Kasenyi plains hence favoring many travelers.

Mweya peninsula has much more to offer than just animals as it provides excellent viewing for many bird species including the malachite kingfisher, Verreaux eagle owl,  and the fascinating shoebill. The boat cruise at Kazinga channel with striking views of stunning river banks commences from the peninsular.

Because of the proximity to the spectacular Kazinga channel, hippos from the channel water grazing peacefully in the bushes can be seen at any time of the day from morning to evening. Mweya is also known as the place housing the king of the jungle known as lions which live in the scrubby thickets on the peninsula. Spending at night at Mweya peninsula either at Mweya Safari lodge/hostels you hear the sound of the lions roaring especially during the night in the nearby bushes and it from here that early morning you can commence your game drive safaris.

The spectacular view of hippos warming their bodies, crocodiles, busking at the sun, antelopes while having a catch look at the hundreds of bird species between Kazinga Channel Bridge and Lake Edward can create that life long memory and experience. A safari at Mweya is worth it for sure.
