Cyanika border connects Rwanda and Uganda; positioned in the district of Kisoro where Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park are located in Ugand and Burera district in Rwanda. Burera district has 2 great twin lakes that is, Lake Ruhondo and Lake Burera. Volcanoes National Park is close to Burera town thus acting as double gorilla trekking for Uganda and Rwanda. This border has a great role in tourism industry of Uganda and Rwanda because both travelers cross from each country to another using the same border as they further for their safaris.

Travellers’ passport

When coming from Cyanika border point, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park are reached easily as you are coming from Kigali in Rwanda. Due to the long distances from Kampala to Mgahinga National Parks and Bwindi, tourists opt to use Kigali international Airport of Rwanda. Most tourists start and end their gorilla trekking safaris from Kigali. Cyanika border is the path used by the travelers to come in Uganda and again as they return to Kigali. As you come from Kigali, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes 3 hours and it takes 8-9 hours from Kampala or Entebbe.
