Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the best Birding destination in Uganda. The park is found at the edge of the rift valley in southwestern Uganda in Kanungu district. The park is the most populated with trees and is one of the oldest national parks in Uganda famously known for mountain gorillas. Bwindi forest national park lies in Kigezi highlands with its beautiful scenery. The park is full of the richest forest in East Africa made up of trees, plants, birds, and butterflies. The park is home to 400 plant species, 350 bird species as well as 120 species.

The bird species spotted during the trek entertain visitors with sounds and melody of birds and these include Grauer’s rush warbler, western green tinker bird, chestnut throated Apalis, montane oriole, African green broadbill, finely banded woodpecker, western green tinker bird, short-tailed warbler, regal sunbird, Kivu ground thrush, montane oriole, shinning African blue, white-tailed blue fly, impressed African emerald, Shelley’s crimson wing, black bee-eater and bar-tailed trogon among others

The best place for travelers to see birds in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the Ruhija sector. Here there are many birds and they are easy to spot. Birding takes 1 to 3 hours of seeing different bird species and the best time to do birding in this park is morning hours in March and September although birding is done any time of the year in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Birding is not the only activity done in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park other activities include gorilla tracking, hiking and nature walks, mountain biking, and cultural encounters among others.
