Animals In Kibale Forest National Park. Kibale Forest National Park is found in western Uganda in districts of Kabarole, Kamwenge, and Fort Portal among others. The park is found 20km away from the fort portal the park was gazette in 1993 and is managed by Uganda Wildlife Authority. Kibale National Park covers an area of 795 km sq.

Kibale National Park animals are the wildlife found in the park and these are the mammals, primates, birds, and reptiles. Kibale National Park is also an eco-community with animal species, birds, and insects. Kibale National Park creates an extension from Queen Elizabeth National Park of 180 km acting as a link between these two parks.  There are chances of finding lions and buffaloes in Kibale National Park don’t be surprised because the Kibale wildlife corridor helps animals move freely from Queen Elizabeth national park. Note that Kibale National Park acts as an interconnecting eco zone linking southern national parks of Uganda to northern national parks.

Kibale national park is mainly known for the primates with over 13 species of primates. Kibale national park receives a lot of visitors mostly for chimpanzee habituation and chimpanzee trekking, Kibale national park is an habitant of 1500 chimpanzees along which you find habituated ones and you can interact with them. Apart from chimpanzees, Kibale national park is the home of other 12 species of primates i.e. red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboon, blue monkey, grey checked mangabeys,  galago mong others.

Kibale national park is a refuge for the largest population of L’hoest’s monkeys in East Africa. There are higher chances of seeing L’hoest monkeys during hiking at Kibale national park. While in Kibale national park you can as well see the nocturnal primates at night i.e. pottos, Demidov’s dwarf galago, and the bush babies.

Kibale national park is blessed with so many mammal species that you will spot and get surprised during nature walks through the forest. It’s very easy that animals move between two parks these include the lions, elephants, and buffaloes, you can even hear them roam around the forest while doing nature walk oh hiking in Kibale National Park given that Kibale National park is part of Kibale Queen Elizabeth wildlife corridor,

Other animals in Kibale National Park include rare sitatungas, antelopes, bushbucks, Peter duiker, blue and red duiker, bush pigs, warthogs, forest hogs, leopards, golden cats, elephants among others.

Kibale National Park is the only place where you can find and enjoy chimpanzee habituation in Uganda and East Africa. This is more fun and intimate than chimpanzee trekking as you get to interact with chimpanzees as you get chimpanzees familiar to human encounters. The habituation takes a whole day of getting close to chimpanzees and learning their habits and style and this activity is best done in a rare season when there are a few people in the national park possibly wet season.

Kibale National Park is always open throughout the year but the best time to visit Kibale National Park in the dry season from July to September and January to February. Kibale National Park has got over 1500 chimpanzees, 80 mammal species, 15 primates species, and about 500 birds.
