Gorilla trekking / Gorilla habituation

Group safaris to Africa can do gorilla trekking in any of the following national parks depending on their budget and desires. Gorilla trekking is done in groups not exceeding 8 people and these must be ages 15 and above with a valid gorilla trekking permit or gorilla habituation permit. Permits can be bought from a trusted tour operator, Uganda revenue authority, Rwanda development board, and Virunga national park website. The permits for habituation which is only done in the Rushaga sector are bought at a fee of $1500, gorilla trekking permits for DR Congo cost $450 in the dry season and $200 in the low season, Rwanda permits go for $1500 and lastly, Uganda permits cost $700 for foreign non-residents, $600 foreign residents and UGX250,000 East African Citizens.

Game drives

Game drives are one of the ways to see and appreciate the rich diversity of wildlife in the national parks as well as game reserves of Africa. The parks are homes of different mammal species, primates as well as birds. Just like gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking requires a valid chimpanzee trekking permit, and people allowed to trek a single habituated family must be aged 15 years and above. The trekking starts with a briefing at different park headquarters after which a ranger guide leads the trekkers into the jungle in search of these gentle primates. after locating the chimpanzees, the trekkers are given a maximum of one hour to be around them as they take pictures and learn about their habits.

Best time for Africa group safaris
