Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kampala city / Entebbe international airport – Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park

On this day, after your early morning hot breakfast (0700 am) our safari guide will meet your at your place of residence / hotel in Kampala or pick you up from Entebbe international airport on your arrival, be briefed on your 3 Days Mgahinga gorilla and Lake Bunyonyi safari and later start your drive to Mgahinga gorilla national park found in South-western Uganda, approximately 9 hours’ drive from Kampala or Entebbe international airport. On your way to Mgahinga gorilla national park, you will have a stopover at Kayabwe equator landmark the line where the earth is divided into the northern and southern hemispheres. While at Kayabwe equator landmark, you will watch the water experiment that is carried out on both sides of the planet and then enjoy the geographical discovery of the Uganda Equator, after water experiment, have a cup of coffee to enjoy the taste of locally Uganda made coffee and later, proceed to Igongo Cultural museum for a lunch break, tour the museum which is armed with an illustrious history of the western Uganda cultures and the ancient life of the Ankole people. Thereafter, continue with your journey to Mgahinga gorilla national park where you reach in the evening to check in at your booked lodge to relax, have dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Mgahinga gorilla national park – Mountain gorilla trekking – Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Make up very early in the morning to have breakfast at 6:30 AM, get your packed lunch, water and snacks, meet your safari guide and drive to the park information center to find other guests to be briefed by the professional park rangers on the code of conduct during mountain gorilla tracking, what you should expect while looking for the mountain gorillas and thereafter, start your guided forest walk to lookout for the endangered mountain gorillas. The time spend in the forest while looking for the mountain gorilla is not known but it may take between 2 and 6 hours depending on the movements of your allocated gorilla family. When you meet your allocated mountain gorilla family, you will be allowed to stay with them for maximum of 1 hour while watching them as the playing around, others resting and jumping from one tree branch to another. You will be free to as many photos as you would want therefore, it is very important to keep your camera on standby such that you do not miss out any beautiful moment with the mountain gorillas uncaptured. After an hour of meeting eye to eye with miraculous mountain gorillas, return to the park starting point to enjoy your picnic lunch, have some refreshments, relax and later drive to Lake Bunyonyi the most beautiful and deepest lake in Uganda to spend your evening relaxing and bird watching. Dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi – Morning boat canoeing – Return to Kampala / Entebbe international airport

Wake up early in the morning to be served your tasty breakfast, slope to the most beautiful and scenic destination in Uganda to start your morning boat canoeing safari on Uganda’s deepest Lake and Africa’s second deepest. Lake Bunyonyi is made up of 29 small islands which gives it a beautiful scenery and calm. During your boat canoeing safari, you will visit some islands such as the Akampene Island and many others. Most islands in Lake Bunyonyi have their unique history as your local canoe guide will narrate to you. After boat canoeing, return to your lodge to check out and then start your journey back to your residence in Kampala city or drive straight to Entebbe international airport to prepare for your return flight.
