This 3 days Queen Elizabeth Park wildlife and chimpanzee safari is designed for those who have little time to spend in Uganda but would like to visit Queen Elizabeth national park for wildlife encounter and Chimpanzee tracking experience. The 3 days Queen Elizabeth Park wildlife and chimpanzee tracking safari includes wildlife sighting Game drives, boat cruise safari on the Kazinga Channel, visiting Kasoga fishing community and chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu forest reserve. Queen Elizabeth National Park is understandably one of the Uganda’s most popular national park with diverse ecosystems such as humid forests, sprawling savanna plains, shady, fertile wetlands, and sparkling lakes that make it an ideal habitat to 95 mammal species such as the classic big games (Elephants, Caped buffaloes, Lions and Leopards), several antelope species (Uganda Kobs, Waterbucks, Topis among others) ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 species of birds.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Kampala / Entebbe – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Visit Kasoga fishing community (Travel time – 7 hours)

Today early morning (630 am) our company driver guide will meet you at your hotel or residence in Kampala or Entebbe for a short briefing about your 3 Days Queen Elizabeth Park Wildlife and chimpanzee tracking safari and then start your drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park “the medley of wonders” found in western Uganda. Queen Elizabeth national park is one of the most loved national parks in Uganda with outstanding wildlife attractions such as the highest number of bird species in Uganda and other national parks in East Africa, Chimpanzee in the ‘underground’ forest in Kyambura gorge and the nearby Kalinzu forest reserve and other big games such as elephants, Caped Buffaloes, Lions and Leopards, several antelope species and water mammals. On your way to Queen Elizabeth national, you will have a stopover at Kayabwe Equator landmark to experience life in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, take a memorial photo when one leg is in the northern hemisphere and another one in the southern hemisphere, have a cup of coffee and proceed with your drive through Kiruhura district where you may have an opportunity to spot some zebras and impalas  from Lake Mburo National park when they are feeding with cattle on local farms situated along the Kampala-Mbarara high way, have another stop at Igongo cultural museum to be served lunch tour the museum thereafter, straight to Queen Elizabeth national park through the beautiful tea estates, crater lakes and small grassy hills. Check in at your booked accommodation, relax and drive to Kasoga village a small fishing community found on the shores of Lake George Ramsar southwest of Kasenyi plains on the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park which offers authentic local experiences such as fishing activities, community walks, canoeing experience, among others which gives a thrilling memorable experience and availing extensive knowledge of the indigenous people. Drive back to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight

Day 2: Queen Elizabeth national park – Morning Game drive – Afternoon boat cruise trip – Evening game drive

Begin your day with a tasty breakfast and then drive to the park for an early morning game drive for an ultimate wildlife experience Kasenyi plains popularly known as a grazing ground to grazers and hunting area to predators. During your morning game drive, your driver guide will help you to spot several wildlife species such as Elephants, Buffaloes, Warthogs, Forest giant hogs, Uganda Kobs, Waterbucks, Topis, Spotted hyenas, Lions, on a lucky day, you may spot a leopard, some primates and others plus    numerous bird species since the park has the highest biodiversity in East Africa. After your adventurous game drive, drive to your accommodation to have lunch, relax and drive to Katunguru to take an afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga Channel the main water stream which connects Lake Edward and Lake George and the main water supply to the park. The boat safari on the Kanziga channel offers an excellent opportunity to spot a variety of Hippos, Nile crocodiles, monitor lizards and other land mammals like Buffaloes, Elephants and some antelope species plus magnificent bird species.  After your afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga channel at 5pm, you will drive back to Kasenyi plains to search for wildlife mammals and evening hours are the best to search for the predators like Leopards and spotted hyenas and many others. Later, return to your lodge to relax, have dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth national park – Drive to Kalinzu forest reserve for chimpanzee tracking – Return to Kampala / Entebbe international airport

Wake up very early in the morning to have breakfast, have all your luggage packed in the vehicle and drive to Kalinzu forest reserve head office where you will be warmly welcomed by the site local guide, be briefed on Chimpanzee tracking and then start your forest walk to look out for chimpanzees and other primates in this forest. Kalinzu forest reserve is the second best forest in Uganda for chimpanzee experience with over 50 well habituated chimpanzee individual for visitor tracking. During chimpanzee tracking, you may encounter other of wildlife species such as over 380, other primates such as Red tailed monkeys, Blue monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys, Olive baboons etc, about 261 butterfly species, 98 moths, reptiles and flowers. The time taken during Chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu forest reserve is not known but it may be between 1 to 4 hours depending on the location of chimpanzee, once you encounter them, you will be allowed to stay with them for a maximum of 1 hour and free to take as many photos as possible. After meeting chimpanzees, return to the forest offices to freshen yourself with a bottle of water and then start your drive back to your residence or hotel in Kampala / Entebbe or Entebbe international airport with a stopover at Igongo cultural museum to have lunch and the drive straight to Kampala or Entebbe. This will be the end 3 Days Queen Elizabeth Park Wildlife and chimpanzee tracking safari.
