This 3 days birding tour will take you to Lake Mburo National Park, one of the best parks in Uganda for bird watching and wildlife safari. Lake Mburo national park is a home to several bird species like the Rufous-bellied Heron, Coqui Francolin, Bateleur, Black-bellied Bustard, Grey Crowned Crane, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Brown-chested Lapwing, Red-headed Lovebird, Brown Parrot, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Ross’s Turaco, Common Scimitarbill, Green Wood-hoopoe, Red-faced Barbet, White-headed Barbet,  Red-shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, Nubian Woodpecker, Yellow-breasted Apalis, Long-tailed Cisticola, and White-winged Tit among others plus several mammals such as Zebras, Giraffes, Impalas, Hippos, Caped buffaloes, Spotted hyenas, Elands, Leopard, Waterbuck, Bush babies and others. Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from hotel or Entebbe international airport – Transfer to Lake Mburo national park – Afternoon boat cruise – Evening and night game drive

In the morning our professional birding safari guide will meet you at your hotel/residence in Kampala or Entebbe or pick up from Entebbe international airport on your arrival for meet and greet, be briefed about the tour and embark on the drive to Lake Mburo National Park found in western Uganda across the equator.  Have a stopover at Kayabwe equator landmark to see the water experiment, take some photos and proceed to the park to check in at your booked lodge, lunch and later on go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo where you should look out for some water bird species like the Blue Quails, Chubb’s and Caruthers’s Cisticola Black Crake, Lesser and Great Swamp Warblers, Striated, Common Squacco, Herons White-headed, Black-headed, Greenwood Hoopoe, Blue-breasted Shining-blue Kingfishers, Black-billed Barbet, Black-winged Bishop, Lilac-breasted Roller, Great White, and Pink-backed Pelicans. Also you will see some water animals such as crocodiles, otters, and hippos and some land mammals when they have come to swim and drinking water like the zebras, several antelopes, and buffaloes, among others. After the boat cruise, do an evening and night game drive in the park to spot more bird species plus mammals. Game drives in Lake Mburo National Park are one of the top activities where you see several mammals and birds in their natural habitat therefore, during your game drive you will have an opportunity to see like zebras, Giraffes, bushbucks, Impalas, Elands, grazing hippos, spotted hyenas, Leopards, Caped buffaloes, and a night jar birds, the African finfoot, Rufous-bellied Heron, white-winged warbler, white-backed night heron, African fish eagle, pied kingfishers, papyrus canary, papyrus gonolek, and many more. Day 2: Lake Mburo national park – Full day birding watching

Early morning be up to get simple breakfast, get your packed breakfast and lunch and drive to the park to have a chance to watch the early risers of the park such as the Red-faced Barbet which is endemic to the park, Grey-capped Warbler, cuckoos,  Brown-chested Lapwing, black-headed weaver, Rufous-napped Lark, Black-bellied Bustard, Lilac-breasted roller and many more. Later have a short break enjoy your full breakfast and proceed with your safari. You will go through different bird habitats include the roadsides between Rwonyo camp and the jetty, the swampy valleys of Warukiri and Miriti, Rubanga Forest where you will encounter bird species like the Rufous-bellied Heron, Coqui Francolin, Bateleur, Black-bellied Bustard, Grey Crowned Crane, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Brown-chested Lapwing, Red-headed Lovebird, Brown Parrot, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Ross’s Turaco,  Common Scimitarbill, Green Wood-hoopoe, Red-faced Barbet, White-headed Barbet, Red-shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, Nubian Woodpecker, Yellow-breasted Apalis, Long-tailed Cisticola and White-winged Tit which make the park to be a real draw for keen birders. Later in the evening drive back to your lodge to relax, review your check list, and have dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Lake Mburo national park – Half day birding – Return to Kampala or Entebbe international airport

After the early morning breakfast check out of your room, get packed lunch and head to the pack to search for more birds and mammal. This is a great chance to encounter those species you would have missed during your previous safari such as Egyptian gooses, African fish eagles, African finfoot, White-backed heron, Hammerkops. Later after your birding safari, embark on your road drive back to Kampala or Entebbe international airport to prepare for your return flight with at least half of your checklist discovered and ticked.
