Day 1: Transfer to Budongo forest national park

On the first day of your 2 Days Chimpanzee Safari Budongo Uganda, our driver will pick you at Entebbe international airport or your hotel and brief you about the safari after which start on your journey to Budongo forest. The journey to Budongo forest takes you 5 to 6 hours and on your way, you will have a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. Ziwa rhino sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can meet the endangered white rhinos in their natural habitat. After spending time with rhinos, you will proceed with your journey to Budongo via Masindi town where you have lunch at any of the restaurants. Later you will proceed to your booked lodge check-in, have some relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest

After early morning breakfast on the second day of your safari in Budongo forest, you will meet up with your driver-guide to transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking rules and regulations. After the briefing, you will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek, a ranger guide who knows very well about the forest trails, and then start trekking.  Trekking takes 30 to 4 hours depending on the location of chimpanzees because they always move from one place to another searching for food most especially in the dry season.

During chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest, you will see different wildlife like the birds, primates such as olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, small mammals, butterflies, different tree species among others. Once you meet the chimpanzees you will be allowed to spend an hour with them in their natural environment which allows you to learn more about their lifestyle, habits, watch them do daily activities, play, take photos, and record moments to show friends back home.

After the amazing chimpanzee trekking, you will go back to the starting point where you will meet your driver to transfer you to the lodge for lunch. after lunch, you will check out of your lodge and start on your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe international airport and on your way, you will have great views of the beautiful scenery, homesteads, plantations, smiling people, and other things. How to access budongo central forest.

Budongo forest reserve is located in north-western Uganda in Masindi district in Uganda. From Kampala to budongo forest takes you about 3 hours and one can pass by Masindi forest first before going to budongo forest.
