Uganda Gorilla trip can be run for a minimum of 3 days for visitors who prefer ground transportation. The gorilla safari begins from Entebbe International Airport to Mgahinga and Bwindi. From Kigali International Airport to Kigali, it will take you fours hour drive to reach the southern parts of Bwindi Impenetrable national Park.

Gorilla safari in Uganda is not accepted to persons under the age of 15 years. The Uganda Wildlife Authority asks passports before authorizing the issue of your gorilla permit. Why is Gorilla trekking trip so expensive?

Mountain Gorillas live in Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga national parks of Uganda, Virunga national park in Democratic Republic of Congo, volcanoes national park in Rwanda.

Gorilla permit costs 700 USD in Uganda, it costs 1500 USD in Rwanda and 400USD in Democratic Republic of Congo. As you’re on the trail, vegetation’s are cut and gorillas are always uncomfortable with a large crowd of people.

Activities like local community development, construction and maintenance of health facilities, provision of piped water, provision of education facilities and among others lead to the high expenses of mountain gorilla trekking.

Monitoring and also providing safety for mountain gorillas contribute to the reason why gorilla trekking is expensive. Security provided to mountain gorillas is from rangers and guards, therefore they need to be paid for their services and doctors too plus more essential workers in the park. The reason for the security is to halt poaching, trafficking, trappings and killings from human beings.

Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo are the only three homes of mountain gorillas.  The demand for gorilla permits is high therefore you are required to book an advance of 8 months before your travel so as to avoid inconvenience at the last hour.
