Rwenzori Mountain covering about 1,000 kilometers in size and it has got the 3rd highest peak in Africa, glaciers, lakes, and waterfalls. Also has an amazing experience and is known as the best destination in East Africa for tourists who are interested in hiking. It is a natural habitat for about 70 mammal species, 19 Albertine rift endemics, 217 bird species, and the world’s rarest vegetation species.

Through the hike, it gives you an unforgettable and rewarding experience and it offers you a chance to see its beautiful nature. its beautiful vegetation changes from one zone to another according to the altitude and the vegetation ranges from the diverse tropical rainforest to bamboo forests, montane cloud forests, and the top of alpine vegetation which is home to the rare plant species which cannot be found in any other lower vegetation zones. The beautiful view makes it the most popular activity not only in Uganda but also in the remaining parts of East Africa.

How to reach the Rwenzori Mountains.

Rwenzori Mountain National Park is located in the north of the equator on the border of Uganda and Congo. If you use the route from north Kampala via Fort Portal which takes about 375kilometers will take you through to the park’s trailhead to Ruboni.  Or you may use the southern pass via Mbarara and Queen Elizabeth which covering over 450kilometers to reach Ruboni.  Nyakalengija is 25km north of the town of Kasese and 17km off the road of Kasese to Fort Portal.

Compliment your hike to Rwenzori mountains National park with a gorilla safari in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park of Uganda and get to know more about these shy primates. You can visit Murchison falls national park and take a boat cruise on the river Nile where you will spot many aquatic animals like crocodiles and hippos around the banks of the river.  Or you can do a game drive and get an opportunity to see the big five wild animals such as buffaloes, leopards, lions, African elephants, and white rhinos plus various bird species.
