Rwanda issues out 96 gorilla permits for 12 gorilla families every day. A gorilla permit in Rwanda costs $1500 per person per trek. Most tourists in volcanoes national park not only do gorilla trekking but also golden monkey trekking. There are only 32 golden monkey permits on a single day and each permit costs $100.

Reschedule expired gorilla permits due to unforeseen circumstances

This service is only available to visitors that did not make it due to unforeseen circumstances. Tourists are allowed to apply for rescheduling of their expired gorilla permits in Rwanda. The tourists need to attach a documentary evidence on the unforeseen circumstances that made them missing the actual date. The decision to give you a new gorilla permit is left to the authorities of Rwanda Development Board. The rescheduling takes 15 days and to begin the process you will need a permit number.

Application for personalized gorilla trekking package

This costs $1500 and the tourists get to choose the time they want to trek these mountain gorillas, the trekking is luxury in that they can be briefed from their hotels by well-trained rangers before going for trekking. They are also allowed to spend more time with mountain gorillas.

Gorilla trekking can also be done in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga national park of Uganda as well as Virunga national park of DR Congo. In all national parks a tourist must possess a gorilla trekking permit in order to meet gorillas. For the case of Uganda, its $700 and for Virunga national park its $400.
