Why tour operators or companies request extra trekking permits?

In case you need extra gorilla trekking permits for Bwindi or Mgahinga national park, what you will have to do is to write officially to Uganda Wildlife executive directors offices be pressing your interests in getting extra permits on the same date you had booked the previous one stating clearing the reason as to why you need the permit and why you dint book it for the first time. Usually, the gorilla permits are printed and come in form of cards but for extra gorilla permits, you will be given a letter attached to the card and you will go with it and introduce it to the chief warden of the park the day you will track the gorillas. It is the duty of the chief warden if he or she wants to confirm if he or she can call at UWA head office. Even the Warden is notified of this development through an email that is sent to him by the head office. Uganda Wildlife Authority has all the rights to deny you more permits over or additional gorilla trekking permits though you may have a valid reason and this could probably be that a certain group of people has already booked to visit a certain habituated gorilla family in question and this number is eight based on the rules governing the conservation efforts and people a group of people trekking a certain habituated gorilla family should not exceed 8 unless there is something special. All the gorilla countries spearhead combined efforts to conserve the gorillas and the rule of limiting the number of gorilla trekking cuts across all the countries. Therefore, in case you are denied an extra gorilla trekking permit don’t think that it is intentional but rather there is a reason for that.

In case they give you an extra gorilla trekking permit, it means that the number for visiting the gorillas per day will exceed and what happens, the Uganda wildlife authority has got about 2 gorilla families that are still unhabituated and these can trek on special consideration request and if this happens at the when extra gorilla trekking permits are requested, and such families are available but not yet opened to the public for trekking bit the Uganda Wildlife Authority may grant you an opportunity to do that just on special consideration.
