Personalized gorilla trekking experience is the newly introduced package that allows VIP visitors or travelers to enjoy a special gorilla trekking experience in volcanoes national park of Rwanda. The park has almost a half of the total remaining mountain gorilla population in the whole world. Without doubt, most of the tourists who visit Rwanda want to meet eye to eye with these giant apes.

The maximum number of people allowed for personalized gorilla trekking experience is 8. Personalized gorilla trekking experience is done at a fee of $15,000 and this money is for all the eight people. The fee includes a meet and brief at your lodge by ranger guides, ranger guide fee as well as park entrance fee.

After briefing at the hotel, there is an additional personalized briefing by the park guides at the park headquarters. The tourists chose a gorilla family / group of their interest as well as the guides they want. Personalized gorilla trekking experience is only done in volcanoes national park located in the northwest of Rwanda near the border with Uganda and DR Congo in the north and west respectively. Accessing the park by road transport from Kigali city takes you about 2.5 hours and on your   way you will be enjoying the beautiful nature of the country. You can also access the park by air transport from Kigali international airport by boarding helicopter flights to Musanze airstrip near volcanoes national park. The helicopters takes only 30 minutes for you to reach the park.

Volcanoes national park Rwanda is a home to 5 out of 8 Virunga mountains and these are mountain Karisimbi, Muhabura, Gahinga, Bisoke and Sabyinyo. The park covers an area of 160 sq. Km all coved by rainforest and bamboo in the northwestern side of Rwanda. The best time to visit volcanoes national park for gorilla trekking is during the dry months. The dry months start in June, July, august and September and again in December, January and February. During these months there is less rainfall and the trails are dry easing the trekking. It’s in dry season that many tourists visit the park we therefore advise you to book your gorilla permits in advance so as to avoid disappointment.
