Musanze town is vibrant town and a tourism center near volcanoes national park in the north western part of Rwanda. The mountainous Musanze town is located in the backdrop of the beautiful Virunga Mountains most especially Mountain Muhabura and Mountain Sabyinyo although Mountain Karisimbi, Mountain Bisoke, Mountain Gahinga also have their boundaries with in the same district. Having a valid gorilla permit from Rwanda development board at a fee of $1500 at hand, will allow you trek through the forests of volcanoes national park in search for these endangered apes.

In Musanze town you also find the famous Musanze caves that have for a long time been adored for being one of the most beautiful natural features in this town. The Musanze caves go up to 2 km long and decorated with lush vegetation at the entrance with their interior having natural stairs. The caves are believed to have been formed 62 million years ago after the last eruption. The caves are a home to different bird species, bats as well as reptiles most especially snakes.

Through visiting Musanze,  you will be able to explore the five out of eight Virunga Mountains located in volcanoes national park.
