The park is found sit is situated in one of the remote of northeastern Uganda in the Karamoja region in the Kaabong district.  The park dissects the border with Kenya and it also neighbors south Sudan.

As of present the park features over 75 mammal species and over 480 species of birds available for you see during hiking safaris or game drives.   The park covers an area of 1442 square kilometers with spindling hills and valleys such as Narus Valley, savanna vegetation with adventurous Morungole Mountain.

Mammals: One of the things to know about Kipedo valley national park is that it is home to mammals including the big 4 mammals of Africa. Visitors to Kidepo Valley national park will be able to sight animals such as buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, leopards, and lions. Other animals on the list include fox aardwolf, bushbuck. Oribi, Uganda Kob, hyenas, reedbuck, Uganda kob, Eland, among others. These animals can be seen on your game drive safaris.

Birds: Kidepo valley national park, a party from being a home to giant and attractive mammals. It has become a hot spot for bird watching in Uganda. There are over 475 species of birds recorded within the park and this makes it one of the leading destinations for birds in Uganda. The common bird species that can be seen in this park by any visitor visiting the park include;; Greater kestrel, Golden pipit, Fox kestrel, Abyssinian roller, Jackson’s hornbill, Abyssinian scimitar bill, Fox kestrel, Chestnut Weaver, Chestnut Weaver, Northern carmine bee-eater, Purple grenadier, Rose-ringed parakeet, Pygmy falcon, ostriches among other bird among other bird species

Apoka tourism center : This acts as a tourist hub for all the activities in Kidepo. Visitors always converge here for their commencement of tourism activity and it is situated strategically overlooking the Narus valley. Mount Morungole: mount Morungole is one of the prominent mountain hiking and it acts as the border or boundary between the rich culture people of Ik and Kidepo National Park. Some of the Ik people stay on top of the mountain and visitors have to trek or walk on foot to visit these people.

Kidepo Valley:  Kidepo valley is within Kidepo National Park and it attracts different wildlife species especially during the dry season. During the dry season, the water within the valley dries up and leaves along a trail of white sand along the banks closed with Borassus palms.

Narus Valley: This valley is housed by rolling grasslands with distant mountains and river Narus located down the valley. The Narus valley has a natural water source and this makes it attractive to animals daily which is amazing. Animals always line in this valley during the dry season and you can see them in herds.

There are a lot of activities still that visitors can engage in Kidepo Valley national park and these include game drive safaris forming the most important activity within the park, nature walk or hiking safaris,  bird watching safaris in Kidepo Valley National Park, Karamajong cultural encounters by the Karamoja and the Ik people among others. Visitors can visit this park any time of the day however the park can be best visited from June to September then December to February which represents the dry season and at the same time the peak season of the park.
