Igongo cultural center is found just 4 kilometers away from Sanga gate of Lake Mburo National Park that is located in the south western parts of Uganda. No matter the park being the smallest Park in Uganda, it is unique in the way that it offers horseback riding an activity that cannot be found in other parks, Igongo cultural center and many activities.
Igongo cultural center was established as a historical place for the home of Banyakitara cultures that are found in western Uganda and the Banyakitara culture is made up of Banyakole-Bakiga, Batooro-Banyoro. Igongo cultural center is well known as Banyakitara museum and is locally called “Eriijukiro”. The park portrays the art, culture and history of Ankore people. If you want to know about Ankore culture, Igongo is the best place to visit.
Igongo cultural center serves local dishes and is constructed in African nature style. Cultural things are portrayed in the cultural center and some of them are the dressing style, long horned cattle, Lake Mburo gardens consist of animal and people feature sculptures of the past. The center was established in the former palace of some Ankore kings.
Igongo cultural center is a luxurious place of accommodation with self-contained rooms that are well furnished and have air conditioners, wardrobe, mosquito net and television.
