What Pregnant women should follow when going gorilla trekking?

A number of things should be considered while booking a gorilla trekking experience in either Uganda or Rwanda for pregnant women;

Inform African adventure vacations of your condition

You need to inform us early when you’re booking with us and then we inform the park warden in time. Once we are informed about this development during our trekking braying or the booking phase of the gorilla safaris, we shall inform the game ward for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park or Volcanoes National Park to prepare for you. On the day of your actual gorilla trekking while at the briefing point in wither Bwindi or Mgahinga national parks, the parks wards or the park staff in charge of gorilla trekking will allocate the easiest gorilla family that is very easy to trek and which doesn’t require long hours and hiking that the pregnant women may not handle. Informing us of your pregnancy also will help us to look for a comfortable safari vehicle and a professional tour guide that will handle you with care considering your natural conditions. During gorilla trekking, the park wardens that are responsible for gorilla family allocation usually consider the physical fitness of the client, the age, and the interests and believe when you inform us in advance you will be able to trek and see gorillas comfortably with your pregnancy or your pregnant women.

We shall book for you sedan chairs

At Africa adventure vacations we usually encourage the pregnant mother especially whose pregnancy is in between 7 to 9 months to use the sedan chairs that are available in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National park, Sedan chairs are important in carrying you to the point where the gorillas are and back to the gorilla trekking starting point. Usually, we do understand that pregnant mothers that nearly giving birth need extra care and handling when they have booked within us the gorilla trekking safari or holiday. You will sit on the sedan chair and then the porters about 5 of them will majestically carry you to the forest to also enjoy the gorilla trekking experience. The sedan chairs cost about $300 to $500 for locally designed chairs and the original chairs respectively. However, as you being carried on the sedan chair, you’re free to tell the porter to put you done and take a photo when you see something very interesting to take a photo or when you reach the place where the gorillas are found, this will be an interesting adventure activity for you. Please feel free we shall take care of you with your pregnancy and you will have a wonderful experience.

Better opt for a flying safari to the gorilla parks when you’re pregnant

For the pregnant women interested in trekking the gorillas in either Mgahinga or Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park in southwestern Uganda, it is not o move for the long-distance 9 approximately 9 hours to drive from Entebbe international airport to Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, what we do advice you is to take a fly-in safari to Bwindi or Mgahinga since there are always daily chartered flights and scheduled flights from Entebbe to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip. The meant you land at the airstrip from Entebbe our professional driver and the comfortable car to pick you up and drive you safely to the  Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park headquarters for the glorious gorilla trekking activity. Usually, luxury land cruiser safaris will be considered because even if it rains you will be able to navigate through the hard and difficult terrain.

Carry enough drinking water and snacks

While pregnant, you need to keep yourself so fresh and replenish yourself with fruits and drinks. Gorilla trekking is not an easy walk and it is a bit strenuous and thus it requires some enough energy and thus if your pregnant please carry enough drinks, food such as snacks especially the energy-giving snacks. Such refreshments keep you stronger when hiking and waking to see the memorable gorilla trekking safaris.

Getting a porter

Hiring a gorilla porter is not mandatory for the visitors heading for gorilla trekking however we would advise this as a must when it comes to pregnant women clients. Porters are important in giving a helping to pregnant women especially in carrying the luggage, sometimes that can help you and hold you’re and overcome a steep slope and in times when the forest is slippery and Impassable. One can hire a porter at a range of United States Dollars 15 to 20 on daily basis.

Do enough physical exercises

In gorilla trekking in Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. We know that some gorilla families are near and can be easily trekked by pregnant women. However, we cannot rule out the possibility of hiking even when the gorilla family is easy to trek and therefore you should be reminded that you will do some sort of physical excises which is good for even pregnant mother, just make some warm-ups, jog to ensure that you’re physically fit.

What you can carry as a pregnant woman going for gorilla trekking
