Facts About Mountain Gorillas: There are various interesting things about mountain gorillas and for this reason, they are looked after by the poachers and the tourists.

Mountain gorillas are known as endangered animals and the interesting thing about them is that they are very rare and had to be spotted everywhere in the world. This is however worrying too.

Some of the things you should know about the mountain gorillas.

There are about 900 mountain gorillas left in the entire world and these primates can only be found in Rwanda, Congo and Uganda.

Mountain gorillas have 98% DNA which is equal to that one of human beings and this makes them closer relatives.

They are largest primates in the world whereby a female weighs about 90kgs then the male gorilla doubles the figure of female whereas a young gorilla weighs 4.5kgs.

They use branches of leaves to make the baby bed.

Mountain gorillas also have emotions like that one of human beings for example they can cry when hurt and laugh when are excited.

A male gorilla, a day can eat over 50 pounds and most of time they do not take water, Gorillas get much of their water from plants.

Mountain gorillas are staying in families like human beings and these families have up to 40 members as that one of Virunga national park.

Gorillas use their feet while, they usually walk on four limbs and they do not have tails.

Mountain gorillas are very intelligent whereby some of them communicate with humans most especially the habituated gorillas have been taught how to use sign language.

When the male gorilla matures, the back hair turns silver and that is why they are called silverback.

Female gorillas usually give birth after 4-5 years and they take 8-9 months of the gestation period.

The life expectance is up to 53 years.
