Bird Watching in Nyungwe forest national park- This is a natural habitat to over 310 bird species whereby among these birds 27 are Albertine Rift endemics, 121 are forest birds. Bird watching is one of the popular activities in Nyungwe which attracts most tourists to visit the park and it is the present ideal for bird lovers among all national parks in Rwanda.

Nyungwe forest national park is remarkable a primary forest with various bird species and fauna. These are common bird species that can be encountered by bird lovers on birding safari in Rwanda include Rwenzori Turacos,  Caprimulgus Ruwenzori, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Ruwenzori Batis, Alehe poliophrys, Purple-breasted and Blue-headed, Ruwenzori Apalis, Dusky Crimson Wing, Grauer’s Rush Warbler, Francolinus Nobilis, Ruwenzori Nightjar, Neumann’s Warbler, Apalis argentea, Kungwe Apalis, Regal Sunbird, Kupeornis rufocinctus, Handsome Francolin, Red-collared Babbler, Cryptospiza shelleyi, Cinnyris regius, Shelley’s Crimsonwing, Hemitesia neumanni, and many more.
