You might ask yourself then why the park is least visited yet it features most of the wildlife species that cannot even be found in any other park in Uganda. There are several reasons attributed to this cause and these include; Kidepo National Park is located far away from city center Kampala and one would need to travel for about 700 kilometers to access the park when the roads were not tarmacked and this would deter most of the visitors. Another reason was that those days the park was not fully marketed as it is now and the accommodation facilities especially luxury were hardly found.  However, due to increased facilities and marketing, both national and international, most visitors find it convenient now to access the park and see the wonders of the world.

Like any destination park in Uganda, Kidepo valley national park can be conveniently and best be visited during the dry season of the year. This is the best time for game drives and even animals tend to concentrate on only the remaining water points especially in the Narus valley. The dry season happens during July, August, and mid-September. The rainy season makes animals move far distances in the wild as compared to the dry season. During the dry season visits, visitors will enjoy very many wild animals concentrating on remaining water points this is because Water becomes scarce, so wildlife viewing is easier as animals tend to seek out consistent water sources and vegetation thins.  The sunshine here is too much with a clear sky, also the scenic views may not be clear because of the misty conditions. The pass ways tend to be dusty and arid.

During the wet season, however, which happens in April to May and September to November you will be able to see clear views of pristine wildlife, birding activity, and safaris are done best during this season or period curtsey of migratory birds can also be seen however wildlife species such as animals tend to move away from the valleys to drier areas making it sometimes hard to sight animals during the rainy season.
